Whats a good recipe for rabbit stew as I have 2 decent size rabbits to use in the freezer.

do it like this you wont be dissapointed

joint rabbit up and put in large stew pan, add chopped onion, 2-3 chopped leaks, chopped cellery if you like it. chopped sweede/turnip, chopped carrots, .

get 1 or 2 of those packet cassarole mixes, colmans, beef or chicken , or as i do both ;) mix them with water and poar over jointed rabbit and vedge, make sure its covered , also add an oxo ,bring to boil. then simmer gently for 2 hours. and add salt and ground plack pepper.

then take rabbit out and pull all the meat off the bone, then put the meat back in the stew, now at this point add chopped potato, if ya add potato at the beging it will break down to nothing then lett it simmer gently for an hour so the tatties cook.

you can then add dumpling if ya like, then serve. big bowl full with crusty bread or french bread and butter BOOOOTIFULL :D

Tomo sounds like the real thing. Although how you manage two rabbits and a bucket of veg with crusty bread on the side at one sitting fills me with awe. Hoping to install a Raeburm Mark I in the new kitchen I am converting from part of the old site. Woodburner, will make a superb slow cooker.

My favourite way to cook rabbit, is fried up with bacon, onions and mushrooms, and seasoned, and then slow cooked either in the oven or on the hob with plenty of cider, root vegetables, and a bit of sage and honey. One of my family and friends favourite dishes!
