MR TEA POT 1,287
Hi folks i have a 6ftx4ft shed with a run attached to it for when i get my first lurcher. I was just wondering if you lads and lasses insulate your sheds for your dogs,if so what do you use?. I was thinking of putting the stuff on to the shed wall then plywooding over it just to make it a bit warmer for the dog. Thanks in advance MTP. Quote Link to post
JDF 0
make a box inside the shed with a removable top....warm in winter plus removing the lid for the two days of summer will stop it from being too warm. Quote Link to post

Guest ladydogtrainer
Just out of interest what kind of bedding do you use this time of year. i use a bedding called eco bed its comes in big bales, its used for horses and dogs. its square cuttings of cardboard, its much better than paper bedding or blankets as if the dogs go in the kennel wet it doesnt soak the bedding threw,so they dont have to lay in damp bedding. plus if you put plenty in the dogs like to make nests in it!! masmiffy 82
Oh dear I must have gone overboard when I had my Springer! Brick built a kennel cavity wall with insulation DG units for windows and an insulated roof. She must hav thought it was the Ritz Quote Link to post

Thanks again folks my mistake ther should off been a , inbetween. viscreene is a damp proof coarse normally used under concreate floors its normally black ocasially blue basicly it a big roll off plastic sheeting. then polerstyrine is polerstyrine the white stuff you used to rub against glass as a kid to get foxes in. you could use any kind off insulation but this way dosent hold water and lasts a good 15 year the ply wood is just to stop the dogs destroying it. (the polerstyrine also adds to sound proofing if you need to lock them in on a night.) you can get them materials from any builders yard or diy place. dont quote me on the spelling its not my thing. kent scotty 0
a mate just done his garden office with wool!! the sheep farmers are making a loss in selling it so you can get it right cheap.you just stick it in the cavity as you would with the other stuff.it breathes(dont pack it to tight)and last for ages. scotty Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,163
dont forget to insulate the roof. a room is only as warm as the coldest part. Quote Link to post
