I am having a terrible problem with rats and would like to have someone hunt them out with ferrets. I am wondering if anyone knows of someone in the US who does this.

Thanks.

only kiddin [bANNED TEXT] , good luck on yer quest!

Actually, we have been talking about being willing to fly someone and their ferrets from the UK as one possiblity. I have lots of frequent flyer miles due to work travel (2 adults and a child is a little more than we were thinking, though). I used to have ferrets (pet, not hunting), and I know how trainable they are, and how they will "break the necK" of their toys, and my father told me about seeing people ferreting for rabbits here in the States when he was younger. I just can't seem to find anyone who still hunts with ferrets here, but I am willing to consider flying someone in. We have an old urban townhouse and have been working with snap traps (killed 14) and had two separate pest control companies in to try to get rid of them. I have been thinking ferrets could go in the crawl spaces between the walls and under the floor and clear them out.

Would they be able to work in a house? We have had rats under the floor boards and in the spaces between the walls? They chewed through some of the connections for the appliances. What I am wondering is can you send the ferrets into some of these holes to find the rats and have them kill them and bring them out? Sorry for any stupid questions, but I am at my wits' end here. :(
