Malt 379
Eh? Oh I see, so if someone were to read that sentance on its own it wouldn't be out of context were the reader to read say the whole paragraph from which it was taken (and in particular the last two sentances). Indeed, the sub title to this thread is: "If your not a BASC member you should'nt have a Gun". I can also now see that that is exactly what Eric Begbee was saying. My apologies for suggesting that you deliberately quoted someone out of context to give the pot a good stir and do some personal axe grinding. Silly me. Er, excuse me mungler mate, but the context of that sentence seems the same to me, whether it's in that paragraph or on it's own......
Foxgun Tom 75
I am being extremely civil I personally don't like being accused of taking things out of context or misquoting anyone!! and my use of words, is acceptable in the modern idiom as is the use of emotioncoms from this board If you ask IanB I'm sure he'll agree? this thread is not an argument its a discussion highlighting a view a senior BASC member has??, and if they have their way it could affect a great many on here who shoot and work their dogs Tom Lets keep it civil, we now have zero tolerance on argumentative threads, keep debate civil please....................... wag 13
Is this not the second time he has caused controversy in the last few months?? Something about a YouTube video? I have no choice but to join BASC if I want to continue my Wildfowling, but I can see that changing and the club switching to another insurer. And after and election to their council one of the most deplorable men you could ever imagine, my interest is very fast waining. Regards SS i like you SS am a member of basc through multi wildfowling clubs, not through my own choice, our club tried to pull out of basc a few years back but couldnt because they do all the leases for the crown foreshore from the crown estates. they are the only recognised body to do so by the crown estates,so they have got all wildfowling clubs by the b*lls, but what basc are forgetting is basc was set up by wildfowlers many many years ago and was named WAGBI but wildfowlers are getting shafted by basc now, they are more for the toffs who pay thousands for a days pheasant shooting . Well said and spot on Wag Stanley Duncan would be turning in his grave to see the shambles with the Humber wildfowlers last year. WAGBI? Wildfowlers Association of Great Britain and Ireland. No Longer. SS

camies 1
I am not surprised by Mr Eric Begbee's comments. A few years ago I was looking at all the "shooting organisations" to get insurance and phoned up the BASC for advice. "Oh, You're an airgunner". I was told. I explained that I usually shot with a registered pest control firm and had been shooting vermin with airguns for the past 30 years. In today's litigation mad world I thought it prudent to get an independant insurance for casual shooting. They again came across as not interested as I was an airgunner. This phone call summed them up for me. They came across as an organisation for the few and not for the many. They claim on their website that "As the largest, strongest and oldest shooting organisation in the UK we have been passionately defending shooting and conserving wildlife habitats since 1908". For who? Also their mission ( this from their website) is to promote and protect sporting shooting and the well-being of the countryside throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. We represent our members' interests by providing a voice for sporting shooting which includes wildfowling, game, and rough shooting, deer stalking, target shooting and air gunning , pigeon shooting and pest control (I underlined the key words for me), gun dogs, promoting practical habitat conservation, training and the setting of standards and undertaking appropriate research. Grand words but don't wash with me. I found another shooting organisation which was quite happy for me to be a member AIRGUNNER OR NOT!
