Hi Adam, I have tried asking a few people in the gun shops, but they always say the same - "your no good to us if you have no experience/knowledge/ know how . .blah, blah, blah . . .Sorry!" Their loss - my gain, as far as i'm concerned - i get to share my ideas with you lot here! The ideas i have now, and have had in the past - yes, i agree i could patent them - but the cost of this process is prohibitive to me, way too costly for me to afford i'm afraid. Another dissappointment for me. Saying that, i have been able to copyright my ideas, for the cost of a self addressed envelope, and a postage stamp for each and every idea i've had - doing that is dirt cheap really? lol All of the ideas i have had are my own, given birth to often through sudden inspiration, lots of research, and lots more of trial and error etc. I have a lot of my ideas because i like to improve on things, as well as to try make my/your/our lives that little bit easier on the whole, like? What i mean to say is, a good air rifle can always be improved upon, and you don't need to pay the extortionate prices that some gun shops like to charge , to be able to do it - most of my ideas are fabricated out of stuff i have already - stuff that is say, layed up and stored in my workshop, for instance? Mostly though, i like to have designable, workable and usable ideas about air rifles mainly because i enjoy the creativity and (sometimes) lateral thinking involved in doing so really? I like problem solving too, and God knows, there is lots of problem solving where air rifles are concerned!! Anyway, there's a little insight into little ol' me - hope it read well!! :11: Regards, Grim. Quote Link to post
Adam-RunningDog 1
To timelord, well your a lucky devil look at that beauty you got now oh i would love one so when im earning money first thing im going to do is start saving for one of them all the gadgets im in college doing A levels for a minute see in engineering graphics and computing well as far as engineering comes into m life is a big way because i have just developed a target, it is remote control and you put it at an distance and knock them all down and by a press of a button they all rise again to be shot down again, really want to make something to do with my hobbies and interest, well i need to improve my standing shots as far as i know i can get pellet on pellet up to 45 yards laying down bipod out, but then standing my maximum range is about 20 yards on a rabbit but i noticed if i shoot up into trees for squirrels or pigeon ect. i can get a really steady shot and hit dead on every time. love my gun for a minute good looks very light and practical for what i do. but i find the balance of it isnt to clever on standing up shots that is why i would like to do grims idea very clever man if you ask me. but i have used a friends s400 and found the balance of the gun is beautyful to do standing shots and can get reasonable grouping at 30 yards compared to my gun, i only really want to change my gun is for the shot capacity. To grim, Your a very intelagent man, know a thing or two but the thing is my but is glued on and i cant really think of any other way of puhing this tube in other than going from underneath but then that would ruin my gun, but i could extend the hole i put my sling in but i am not to sure yet mate let me know what you think. Hi Adam, In respect of the bold and underlined above: First point about shooting upwards and noticing you hit the target every time - that is because mate, when you tilt or raise the rifle upwards, you are altering the centre of gravity somewhat? Remember, when shooting into trees from the ground, the rifle is at a much steeper angle of attack, and so this would seem to have the effect of ' shortening' the rifles length in relation to the direction of the force of gravity (the rifle of course, won't be shortened at all in reality)? I know this may seem to make no sense - but if you try holding the rifle and point it at your ceiling, you will see what i mean. In respect of the italic above: You have PM matey Regards, Grim. young_london_hunter 9
i started at cans, start at 5 yard then work up 5 yards at a time each can 10 out of 10 every time. Then when you get to 40 yards. Get a smaller target, say an apple and do the same again. After some time youll be nailing the 50ps Quote Link to post

Edgar 1
Hi all standing shots are difficult! here's how i take them. Stand at an angle to the target. keep the rifle locked into your shoulder. support the rifle with the other arm but don't grip too tightly. Breathe in. Bring the rifle up to the target and slowly breathe out and take the shot. It shouldn't take more than 5 seconds. You need to "think" the sights on to the target. Squeeze the trigger very gently so as not to spoil your aim. And yeah u need to practice a lot. I'm right handed and my left arm supports the rifle freehand but you could try resting the elbow of your supporting arm on your waist or you could wrap the sling around your supporting arm. if the sights are wobbling all over the place then don't shoot. Rest your arms for a minute. Practice and you will get there. sorry if this doesn't make any sense. Good luck! Quote Link to post
McSparkie 0
OK, I have never met you guys and have only been on here for a wee while, but I reckon between GrimR and Time Lord (and maybe a couple of others ) we have the makings of a serious info bank. If you guys can't or won't get your own shop together, then can you make yourselves available for when I want to buy my next gun? It'll be a while (have to build up the tokens to afford another one (might manage to persuad the wife to get her own one though)), but I defo would appreciate your input for it. Sorry if this comes across as brown-nosing, but I'm on a few forums and this pair between them seem to have more sense than the rest put together. Quote Link to post

McSparkie, Thank you for your comments about both Timelord and myself - I am just pleased to see that you find our words encouraging, as well as (I hope ) enlightening - that is the main aim of a place such as this! I would seriously LOVE to be able to start up a shop with someone, dealing in, and doing something i like - but alas, i have niether the means or the time. I would have no qualms at all in giving you any advice or help you feel you may need on air rifles, as (i am sure) niether would any of us THL 'regulars'? Carry on enjoying the knowledge base on here - it is both wide and deep, but don't let that stop you in any way mate!! All the very best to you, Grim. Quote Link to post
