My cat found mine once  but if we ever loose one in the field I use a wooden trap off my mate, im not sure what its called though

well shes wandered about 75 yards from the court where she lived with her mother and 5 others......and she killed all the quail in the stable about 75 yards from her normal ferret court.....i reckon she might be lying up, fat on quail somewhere but worried she will keep on walking

Last time i lost a couple of ferts, i managed to recapture one that night in a rabbit live trap, baited with a bowl of dry. But remeberif you leave dry, leave water. My concern with fresh is it may attract a fox which would set the trap off, and leave the trap off for the night.

The wee lad was absolutely freezing when i got him that morning. Never got the second one back, but i still look for him even now.

If its cold to night cover the trap and check early in the morning.

Best of luck, worrying times i'm sure

Matt
