Guest buster321c
Hi again. What distance should i zero in my .22 for shooting bunnies whilst lamping Well what distance do you feel comfortable with , in the dark , with a lamp ??? Personally i zero at 25 yds , but i use a px adl scope so its easier for me Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
My .22lr is zeroed for 60 yards with Eley subs. I think most people will zero for 50 yards. Quote Link to post
John Keswick 119
I dont shoot a lot any more, but i always found 50 yards zero point is good. Mr Galway how do you find Eleys? i always found them a tad hard ( ideal for semi autos though, they seem to load smoother ) or maybe the hollow point wasnt quite big enough and very often the rabbit would would get up and run off, only to dye 30 seconds later after reaching the saftey of its burrow. So i switched to magtech and found they smacked those rabbits over everytime. Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
Well, for safely landed crows/magpies I never had trouble with Eleys. For rabbits it was mixed, I have heard other rounds, notibly Winny subs had better killing power. I agree with you, I don't believe the Eleys expand as best as they "could". I use them mainly as I find them to be the most accurate round out of my rifle over the ranges I chose to shoot Never shot semi auto, so they're going through my bolt action Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Never have owned a .22LR but from the guns of people I have shot 50-60 yards is the norm. No real need to have it over that for normal .22 ranges. SS Quote Link to post

dicehorn 38
Hi again. What distance should i zero in my .22 for shooting bunnies whilst lamping Personal thing really. The problem with shooting with a lamp is judging distances at night - targets tend to look further away. Therefore my .22 (normally zeroed at 50 yds) is bought down to 40 yards for night time use - the reason for this is that if you think the (say) rabbit is 50 yds away when in fact is only 35 yards away the bullet could well miss above the top of the rabbit because of the loopy flight of the bullet - the 40 yard zero allows for distance judgement errors Hope that did not sound too complicated Peter PS glad this is up and running again - personally I thought that 99% of this group's members were all pretty mature and civilized.........um like me!!!
