if you do a clove hitch knot

then put a tight rubber band over it, you dont need a gromit.

Gromits are good though, but if you cant get them, try the above, as theres a lot of friction on a dowel, so it should work well.

Does anyone have about 25-30 rubber ring grommits and a twister to twist the with? I need one as Im planning on buying sheet netting, 15 poles of dowelling from B&Q and rigging my own quickset. so any help apprieciated

I tried to post a reply earlier but I am rubbish with computers,so here goes again.

1-With a heavy duty stapler, staple the top and bottom cord of the net into the dowel where you want it,use 3 staples.

2-Place a blob of super glue or Araldite over the saples and cord, let it dry.

3-Get some heat shrink sleeving (as used to put over electric jonts on cables) a little larger than the dowel, slide over the cord and staples, you dont need a lot only about 5-8cms.

4-When you are sure the cords and sticks are in the right position heat the heat shrink with a heat gun,it really binds around the stapes and cord compressing the staples, the cord doesn't slip, the sticks stay in place, its neat and tidy and won't fowl the net.

Easy as you like and cheap as chips, £1.00 for about 20 sticks worth !!

I was thinking of getting rubber rings as I have a dvd to show me how to do it then, where would I get the rings from? and a twister?

Always found bike inner tube cut into section and fastened to the top line, then doubled round the pole sufficed :whistling:

Funny what I take to be second nature believing everyone knew about these things obviously not

Used on the botton of the net when pushing the pole into the ground the rubber and net slip up the pole so the net is tight to the ground, so if the ground is softer the pole goes in futher (Tip from Glen Walters snareman on here).
