Scabby Hare?

I flushed a mountain hare the other day for the gun and my pup retreived it very nicely, but afterwards when I was taking the belly out of it, I noticed it had crusty, pussy sores around its mouth :o now the pic is not very good as its off my phone, but it looked for all the world like myxy :o this is the first time I have seen this, just wondering if anyone knows what it is? I checked its eyes and they seemed normal, no sign of puffyness or scabs, but the other place you usually see it in myxied rabbits is around the arse, had a look and sure enough its arse was red and scabby as well, ok dont laugh, I did take a pic of that too :D but then I thought well if I by any chance get stopped by a friendly and enquisitive policeman and he sees the mouth pic he might go :hmm: stand by with the straight jacket officers, but the scabby arse pic well that will be the clincher, he will be calling for the men in the white coats  so I deleted it, but basically it looked very much like the mouth, scabby and infected

Anyone seen this in hares or know what it might be?

 PMSL no Wullie it was definately not shot, the scabs were the same kind you see on myxied rabbits  I asked one of the keepers and he mentioned a tick borne thing called "louping ill" which apparently affects hill sheep quite badly, but when I googled it I couldnt find anything about the hares having sores around their mouth/anus ?

After a bit of research on the net today I beleive I have found the name of it, the symptoms seem to match something called "Contagious Mucocutaneous Dermatitis" nasty stuff by all accounts  :o
