labsnlurchers 39
Well, after reading the thred bout a bloke wanting advice on a pcp for his five yr old it got me thinking, what age everyone else started hunting and what age their kids started hunting be it lamping, ferreting, shooting, whatever the discipline be intresting to know i think.... to start it off my dad had dogs since i can remember and from the age of about 5 i started going out with him, mainly as the rabbit carrier and the crawl under the bush to collect the ferret helper! lol i got my first air rifle at 7 and things went on from there. My boy first started coming out with me at age 3 or 4 and santa bought him his first air rifle, a lighthunter pcp with skeleton stock, at age 7 (santa would have bought it at 5/6 if he could have afforded it!) and he had a beddy whippet collie grey pup at the same time. cheers Edited October 24, 2008 by labsnlurchers
will.f11 24
I started tagging along ferreting with dad and his friends at about 3 years old, at 6 I shot my first rabbit and at 8 I shot 29 roosting pigeons with an airgun with my friend (we were being naughty as dad was out lol) and I got a right bollocking for it lol. dangerous thinking back. I have been ferreting and shooting since I can remember (or atleast being around it) and got my own ferrets this year, after a long time learning lol.

Guest foxyjo.
Some VERY cute photos!!! I started foxhunting at about 14. My grandparents brought me up and they had retired from it all really, so I had to wait until I could paddle my own canoe!! They provided the riding lessons etc, but their days of hunting and horses, shooting etc were gone. Fired my first shotgun at about 12, hit the first two clays I ever shot and missed a lot after that!!! Foxcub has been on a pony since he was a dot! He sat on his own pony at a meet for the first time aged just 5. He hunted regularly up until last year when he gave up ponies....(he's regretting it now!) He has been keen on shooting forever. Here's some pics of him. This is Foxcub aged about 8 at the first meet after the ban. And him 18 months ago and in the summer after his first rabbiting outing with a 410. My little one, will be the same. He loves the dogs and the horses This is him with his godmother!! Can you tell I'm a proud mum????!!!

I know about the mercy mission stuff!! I go out looking for one thing, come back with something entirely different!! The best yet was a search for a 16.1-16.3 hunter IDxTB type, gelding preferably, came back with a 13.1 gypsy mare, unbroken and in foal!!!!! Still.....gotta be done!!! I particularly love the mare that's just foaled...she is stunning. And soooooo my type!! And she jumps...mine lets me go it alone quite often!!!
