TIMMAY 6
I wouldn't use them, they can have a very bad effect on the kidneys and heart. They are really good for joint pain in humans though!
dangergirl 13
No. They can cause humans alot of problems. They are non steriodal anti inflamatories and can cause serious respiratory problems in humans, even stomach ulcers. They are too strong for a dog, but a vet will have something very similar at a lower dose Edited October 24, 2008 by dangergirl

I went and seen another doctor who simply changed them! I wouldn't recommend them for a dog.
socks 32,253
if you use them on a dog you will cause stomach ulceration and bleeding ... if you need to use an anti inflamotory then use metecam or rymadile ...........

polecat 1
you probably find that most of tablets vets use are the same as what docs use just branded vets pain killers ponstane forte 40 quid for 8 tabs you get 100 from docs for 6.75 price of a script as for your diclofenac they pain killer come anti inflamatory if worried goggle the name and see what it says !! me i yous most of the penicilan tabs doc gives me if the dogs need them and if you use right wont do dogs any harm just use caution
dangergirl 13
They wont be the same, dont use them. You would rather pay a few quid more for the real stuff from the vets then have to fork out hundreds for a gastrointestinal bleed caused by human dose tablets. Dont use human antibiotics on a dog, for a start they dont kill pain they only kill bacterial infection; You wont know what bacteria your treating so the tablets you have lying around that you used for a chest infection wont work on an infected leg. The human dose will be to big too and could cause renal or liver problems, then before you know it you've nearly bumped off your prize pooch and again will have to pay hundreds for treatment.
