That is if you can find a vet that will do it ! Animal welfare act 2006 makes the rules !! Quote Link to post

JPTfellterrier 65
aye it is a bit late, i would never buy a un-docked terrier, for the sake of their health and because i think patterdales with tails look silly you could try the vets but i wouldnt think they would do it, the stupid buggers will only probably do it once it get injured grrrrr stupid people Quote Link to post

border 65
will still work with a tail Quote Link to post
northwestmitch 9
Docking a dogs tail with a rubber band does work, I did a couple of my Dobermann pups years ago, when the vet didnt cut them short enough but you should only use this method only when there under a week old as the tail is still grizzle, at 14 wks its bone, this will course the pup alot of pain suffering, open to infection an possibly the loss of a pup, a big vet bill and the RSPCA after you. Brimmer 220
How long have you got until a dog cannot be docked? Quote Link to post
leegreen 2,172
How long have you got until a dog cannot be docked? Always used to do mine at about 2-3 days old, the skill of it is to get a constant length when the pups are so small, what looks like a little bit can be a bigger bit when they are adults. Brimmer 220
My russell has a 4-5" stump, I was told a while after I got him that his tail was how can you say 'Nibbled off by the breeder'! Don't know how much truth is in this, anybody else know about the tail biting? By the way he's 8 now with a happy stump! Quote Link to post
