You can catch it from anywhere a rodent has urinated :big_boss: , if the area remains wet and it is contaminated then you can catch it, that means wet soil, wet leaves, wet anything, The virus also does not dilute meaning: if you have a large pond and you poured a small amount of urine that has weils disease in, it is not diluted.

There is another virus that should be thought about when dealing with rodents, it is passed on via Rat shit, rat urine and rat saliva!!! it is passed on by inhalation HANTAVIRUS

Be carefull ,although reported deaths of Weils disease is low the actual amount of recorded people who contract it is high due to miss diagnosis such as what has been mentioned above by OTC....due to ignorance by gp's.....many people who contract it are un aware they have had it and can can recover but some dont!!!

If you are dealing with rodents out in the field then get yourself a soap that can be applied without water, there are plenty on the market :victory:

ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES, NOT LEATHER , NOT CLOTH, QUALITY NITRILE GLOVES THAT DONT TEAR...RANT OVER

I know you wont catch it from hedges fella.... :D .... what i'm on about is getting cuts and scratches from netting up in heavy cover, then netting up later on somewhere else where a cow has pissed, also bolted some rats before now as well in rabbit buries.

we have hand wipes in the vans, but when your half a mile up a tunnel, shooting pidgeons in a snow tunnel, a quick fag can be had on the walk back, you can only carry so much gear to start with, remembering you will be carrying an extra 4 or 5 bags of pidgeons back too, its easy to get complacanant when working, and as you take more than 1 pair of latex gloves with you, its easy to have a fag inbetween a glove change

am just trying to say, you can never be 100% safe, otherwise we'd never step foot outside the house, or do what we do
