Winchester .22 Ammo

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone on here uses/or has used this ammo. Took 80 rounds to set my glassware today

at 80 yards.

Any other bullet recommended?

Im using a .22 Rugar 10/22. Never had a problem with these, might of had a dodgy batch. Not sure.

I use Winchester subs , wouldnt use anything else .Never had a problem with them. Why are you zeroing at 80 yds why not try 50yds . I set mine at 50 yards and that takes care of most shots at rabbits.

To be honest i normally do 50/60yrds, i have some real lamp shy rabbits on some new land, so i added my yardage up.

Most rabbits i shoot are at the 50 to 60 range.

I zero at 60 all the time with win subs but for lamp shy bunnys i used to practice a lot on plases i worked on i just shoot them a 100 - 130 yards away sounds a lot but ask a few people of here its possible and yes i miss youcant hit them all but it works well

Oh i totally understand, and ive had them at that range too. Its all about the safe back drop too, and some places you just cannot shoot that range for obvious reasons.

Yes see what you mean i only did that on estate ground i got some hi vs in wins and for safe 80 yrds i zero it for the hi-vs if they get lamp shy

There were some real dodgy batches of Win 22 about 15 years ago. Some barely plopped out the barrel ,other were damn near hi-velocity,and out of the same box!

In your situation I think I'd stick to zeroing at 60 yds,get it spot-on so you are full of confidence and then practice getting the hold-over right for the longer shots.

When I first had my .22 my Head Keeper took me and another lad who'd just got his FAC into "the wilderness",got us zeroed at 60yds then told us that when we could hit a match-box at 100 yds he'd let us go out at night on our own. Boy did we practice getting that hold-over right!!!

Must say that since I've gone four-eyed with age I have to think about zeroing and aiming a little more carefully otherwise I suffer from problems with slight distortion. Good luck with the distant bunnies.

I had problems with winchester subs, the cases jamming in my CZ, i've asked the gunshop I use and they have mentioned that most new CZ rimfires are having trouble with jams, this is because winchester have changed the case size of the bullets, the older cz's shouldn't be affected, I've had a few flyers recently with the eley subs so I'm giving the RWS subsonics a go now, see how I get on...

I use winnies, fired off 300+ this week not one problem. still wouldnt mind having a go with rws though, as i here they are very good.Happy hunting :)

RWS have a bigger grouping than Wini subs in my CZ. i did a post on it a couple of months back. But they would still be usable.

Interestingly enough, i have never had one jam or misfire with Wini subs, and i use a good few...
