Cherry ferret box in the making

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm in the process of making a ferret box.

this is how far I have got ,I dont know weather to have it split in half,or have one for the ferrets and a smaller section for equipment like locater and some nets. the section that will hold the ferrets is going to have a lid on .so there will be a main lid to open, then another to get at the ferrets.

Looks very nicely made mate... almost too good to drag around the bush getting scratched up and dinged. Got to say that it does look a little on the heavy side but looks can be deceptive  Good workmanship and all the best.

hello

Its not soilid cherry so its not that heavy, its cherry ply .it may not even be used, as i'm not in the uk at the minute (canada) and ferrets are a hundred dollars or so a pop here and sold in pet shops, also you cant breed from them! if I can get it home without too much space in my suitcase then I will take it home ,if not, its time to make a small one for a jill or so. (watch this space) .This is just a bit of fun to make the days at work go faster!

Trapper it looks like you have used cherry ply and edged it with a strip of cherry and mitred the corners, nice job, I have used cherry ply myself in cabinet making it has a very nice finish and when polished up the grain really stands out sould be a smart and usable box, the weight is no diferant to normal ply, will look well with brass fittings
