The one 8,545
Dust free shavings are what i use and the ferrets play in it when im cleaning them out and never sneeze Quote Link to post
stubby 175
ferrets can contract the human flu virus, did you know?? it can kill them if it progresses into pneumonia. and anti bitotc jab from the vet would do no ham and would not break the bank either i should think but why if it aint broke, don't try fixing it, granted ferrets can catch human colds, so before telling someone to rush to the vets for a jab, prehaps asking if they had a cold lately would be the first question, also sneezing is not the only sympton, so you'd ask how the eye's and nose looked data, where are you getting your bedding from?, dont get it from a woodyard/timber merchants, as you cant be sure if the shavings come from treated wood, better to get bales of woodchip from a stables, although your ferrets will still sneeze, its not going to do them any harm Quote Link to post

Funfuret 1
Might be worth you putting your ear to their chests to check there's no crackling sounds or wheezing, Datawrite. Quote Link to post
droid 11
Ferrets CAN'T catch human colds. Cold viruses and flu viruses are different types of virus, so just because ferrets CAN catch human flu doesn't mean they catch our colds. Quote Link to post

sue 1
mine have sneezing fits after i have cleaned them out because they love tunneling in the fresh shavings ,you are right ferrets can catch the human cold ,your best bet is to change to a more dust free shavings and keep an eye on them that the dont start loosing to much weight as you know yourself you go off your food when you are bunged up so you could expect them to loose a little Quote Link to post
datawrite 0
thanks sue, one of my gills has lost a bit of weight but i think that could be threw fighting for food, and having a cold wont help, so now i got my eye on her and i have her to eating on her own to be on the safe side Quote Link to post
