comanche 3,108
Not massive by some folk's standards but it's my best (andI 've been fishing for over 200 years ),came from a tiny tributary of the Arun, along with an out of season sea-trout and a little parr.I really should electro-fish more often!. Seriously, 2 1/2 lb line & maggot. Trouble was I'd only a pocketfull of tackle and no scales . The roach was 13 3/4 inches long(I cut a bit of string to take home and measure) to the tail-fork. I'm guessing pound and a quarter but a mate reckoned bigger .Anyone any ideas or one of those old-fashioned weight for length tables handy? Quote Link to post

comanche 3,108
Thanks for that people. I'd rather be accused of under- estimating than exageration and bullterrier's probably right .I should enjoy it for what it is -my biggest roach! Thanks again. Quote Link to post
kingfisher 0
ive had about 6 2 pounders and i would rather catch a nice 2 pounder than a 20 pound carp any day Quote Link to post
comanche 3,108
ive had about 6 2 pounders and i would rather catch a nice 2 pounder than a 20 pound carp any day Crap er sorry carp used to be so special when I was growing -up but now thanks to the emphasis on instant success in angling they are just another alien invasive species. Over-stocked ,oversized, ever-hungry things that are just an enviromental time-bomb.Britain is 100 years behind the rest of the World when it comes to attitudes to stocking with fast -growing, aggressive strains of carp .So many countries eco-sytems have been wrecked that they activly encourage the use of carp as fertilizer and archery targets!. Ok so that's off my chest. Nice one kingfisher . Just think ,that 20lb carp probably eats (and sh*ts) at least as much as a whole shoal of native fish. take it out of the equation and you could have10 two pound roach ! Quote Link to post

Then once the eye is truly in ,the commons-especially those with names Any named fish should automatically become a target, its the law, nothing brightens the day up more than a crap angler in mourning, besides allowing for defraction is a lot more skilfull than lobbing out a hair-rig,Vive le difference Quote Link to post
