Homemade Lead Filled Priest

Tonight I made a priest after not quite killing - and losing a rabbit on sunday. It is made from a peice of stairway banister strut, which I drilled a hole in the top of, and poured molten lead inside. I also stained it for weatherproofing.

good luck with it mate, looks like a nice job. I usually either have a thick stick with me or use the metal part of a hammer. but anyway, a grand job there.

why use a preist? just pull it

 

Got a big tough buck out of a hole on sunday, thought I'd pulled it but 10 mins later it got up and ran off. This way I can be sure it doesnt happen again.

imo a priest is just more wieght to your bag nothing wrong with them i used to use one but not for me cheers r.tr

after youv pulled it touch its eye if it flicks or moves in any way do it again but usually you feel the head come off the neck well i do anyway

 

why is there such scorning with using a priest as a humane way of dispatch

at the end of the day, whatever way is used, be it pulling or whack on head, if it does the job first attempt, then you have killed your quarry humanely,

if your having to touch eyes to see if it flicks, then surely your admitting that sometimes sretching isi'nt working for you, Im not knocking you, but in those instancies, the rabbit is not being humanely killed

where as, a whack with a priest to top/rear of head, and its dead

The Vulcan Death Pinch is the only instant humane way of dispatching rabbits and it takes a long time to master but is not for amateurs..................use it carefully.

Only concern is blood. If you get blood on hemp nets wash them thoroughly on getting home, as there's nowt rots them quicker. I certainly just neck or chin them, however last year after my son, "He's bigger and stronger than me" chinned one, and as was mentioned, after a few minutes it got up and ran away. A good reason for using stop nets.
