BODBRAM 0
I am a proud owner of a really good hunting JRT. He is 8 years old now and has arteritus. He has always been a very good and willing hunter. I bought a well bred JRT bitch over the summer. I was wondering could or should i let my Dog cover her? I really want a pup out of him as he is a one in a million and my pride and joy. Would pups from him be more likely to get arteritus? Please respond as i dont know what to do. Quote Link to post

scent 509
is it a bushing dog or a ground dog pal Quote Link to post
BODBRAM 0
is it a bushing dog or a ground dog pal He is an all rounder. I started him ratting and he has caught me rabbits. He hunted with a pointer when young and will hunt pheasant has an amazing nose. I never sent him to ground was too young(11 when i got him) plus i had no one to show me the digging ropes. If i got pups I would keep two on and look into putting them to ground. I think my dog may have been wausted because i was so young I am sure he would of been good at foxing. Thanks for your reply much appreciated Quote Link to post

Thanks for your reply friend. The thing is i dont want to have a pup crippled with arteritus at a young age not fair on the little dog ya no. I would have no problem retiring a dog myself. My own lad is not a ground dog but he will never retire ratting ya just couldn stop him. He has a lot of drive but is very stiff Quote Link to post

Very sensible mate. i would get an opinion from your vet and if he gives the ok then go for it. i had a one in a million lab a few years ago and never got a pup from him, i have regretted it ever since. Yeah im in the middle of changing vets now mine is terrible for dogs especially wworkers. Im going to get a good one and see what comes from it. Spending a fortune at the minute trying to help the arteritus starting to get results now. Im using cod liver oil and pedigree joint care. Quote Link to post
