andy s410c 61
Made the effort to get the kits out for a training sesh today up at Weardale.Left the house just before 10am with the little poley jill(Ruby),silver hob(Jasper) & their mentor for the day,my favourite poley jill Amber.Arrived at the bottom quarry with a very grey sky & gusty S/W wind.On the way to the sets i only seen two rabbits which ran into the quarry wall anyway. I netted up my "dead cert" sets a 13 & 7 holer at the bottom bank of the quarry with the wind getting stronger I collared the ferts up & gave it 5 mins before putting the 3 of them into the 13 holer.I put the 2 jills into the hole together, well Amber just shot off & left Ruby to her own, so i put the hob in with Ruby & watched them inch their way into the burrow. After a few minutes Amber showed, nothing at home however i let the youngsters have a good mooch about. After 20 mins or so we moved onto the 7 holer i put the kits in & they seemed more confident however nobody at home but i let them mooch around for a while,we moved further back up the quarry & i netted up a 8 & a 2 holer nothing at home in the 8 holer however at the 2 holer i put the little jill in by herself, above the wind i heard a rabbit on the move,1 in the net with Ruby flying out after it!! I decided to do one more set as the wind & rain was getting wild,i quickly netted up a 10 or so holer, put the kits in nothing at home .I called it a day, more than happy with what the kits had done but it looks like the mixy may have took a heavy toll or (hopefully) the weather had sent the rabbits into the quarry walls "THE A-TEAM" Ruby's first rabbit Quote Link to post

Malt 379
It's a relief the first time they go down a hole, I always worry that they are going to be hole shy, they hardly ever are though! Quote Link to post
