Quick session

Recommended Posts

Took one of the other halfs lads out for an hour or so today for a quick ferreting session,we took a couple of short long nets as it's easier to net around the warrens here due to old nettle stalks and hiden holes in the present nettles. We ended up only doing one warren but had 1/2 dozen rabbits from it and as i have plans to really hit this place soon(with the help of some others)i didn't want to disturb it to much.I have taken the lad out a few times and he seems to be keen and also loves a good ratting mission so it looks like i've got a young apprentice,i set up the nets with him helping me with the poles and gave him one of the ferrets to enter and away we went.It took a little while for things to happen but they did and for the next 1/2 hour we had some rabbits bolting straight out into the nets and some which were giving it the hole to hole treatment,i slipped in another little jill and she helped to purswade the remaining occupants to vacate the warren. As the two jills emerged i boxed them up and left it a little while longer before having a quick scan for my hob with the box and found him still moving about but heading up towards the surface, out he came and after picking up the nets and sorting the rabbits i did the end of day photo picked up the kit and turned round to see the old bill waiting for us at the van.Now i was on a bit of extended permission here :whistling: although a very safe bit and have had no hassle before as there is a large lorry yard right opposite and i usally talk to the guard and ask him to watch my motor for me(had a few good chats to keep him on side, front it out i say)well today a different guard and it was him who called the old bill, after sorting out their misunderstanding for them the wpc asked me how i caught the rabbits and how they looked like the pet one she had at home,i ran through the way i'd caught them with the long net and showed her how a purse net works, showed her the ferrets(had her well on side by then lol)she thanked me and they left.I went and saw the guard and he couldn't say sorry enough for hassling me and he will look after my motor for me whenever he sees it there, permission 99% secure lol.A couple of pics of the session.
