lamping

Recommended Posts

Make sure you have a good selection of filters, and alternate the colours each time you you go to the same spot.

If you also try and not hammer the same permission over and over, give it a week or so break between visits, try and go elsewhere and rotate your permissions.

If you constantly hammer your permission with a bright white light the rabbits will become lampshy and you will then be asking this question in the rimfire/shotgun section.

hi guys

i have never been lamping before so i just have a few questions

1 is it easier to sneak up on the bunnys?

2 are more bunnys out at night?

and 3 do you still use a hid at night?

thanks gaz

You may well get a lot coming back here, but to simply try and answer your questions...

1...Depends on the land .... Generally ..maybe..but you end up with a different set of problems!!

2...Almost always..but you still need to find the right time of night!!

3...No, but hardly ever do in the daytime either for bunnys!!

:thumbs::thumbs:

One thing I would add, even though you have not asked.....don't even think about going lamping on land you don't already know well from daytime shooting!!

Good advice put up by the fella's already :good: .I would recommend that you keep your hands & face covered(gloves & headnet) & get yourself a small Petzl LED headlamp for reloading,looking for shot rabbits & for safety,on mine i've coloured the lens red with a permanent marker.Even tho you may know your shooting ground well things can change in the darkness,for me a slip could result in a 60ft fall down a quarry wall :icon_eek: which ain't a good look.....
