Found this in my shed.

Haven't got a clue what it is, it has 'Parker hale' written on the side so I'm guessing that its shooting related.

The case next to it is a .243 to give an idea of the size.

got a pic of one of these in an old parker hale catalogue[1950] .seen them being used at vintage arms meetings ,you might get 20quid for it on flea bay but iwould be inclined to keep it but then im an old hoarder ive had the same wife for 30 years...greasemonkey

I've never seen one before so it'll go in the collection of bits and bobs!!!

Worth more to my for its rarity than the actual money.

Couldn't it be an early prototype of a deer butt remover?

we used them at bisley to rest the rifle barrel between shooters and if you needed to put the rifle down while setting up but not for shooting off

An uneducated guess would translate it as a tool that removes a deers backside when skinning/butchering it.

 

I know, I was surprised too when I heard they had something to do that.

Wouldn't want it in my pocket it i was out stalking with a point like that on the end Like has been said a rest to hold the rifle off the ground whist between target shooting seems practical

 

As for a thing to remove a deers ring-piece... you'd hope not! I've seen one called 'but-out' advertised, can't really see the point in them. Just another bit of kit to carry and not end up using.
