will.f11 24
theres a load on here, what will they be like, its just they are a tad expensive... http://www.bulldogtools.co.uk/index.php?pa...mod=2&tid=2 Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
The bulldog's you posted the link to are great spade's, especially when they have worn in a bit and sharpened up, get one with the longest T handle availiable, it always comes in handy when going that bit deeper. If i could i'd have a little bit more angle placed on the head (just a fraction) to lift out the loose from deeper down, and a slightly wider head. (These spades are as good off the shelf as you'll find, owning one myself, but i like to move things fast, and have the grunt to do it!) Edited October 17, 2008 by Brimmer Quote Link to post

will.f11 24
do they post? Quote Link to post
Murph 30
Wilf they're always coming up at farm auctions if you ever get to them, I bet I've seen 15 at auctions in the last year, think mine cost a tenner. Bulldogs are the best in my opinion, you won't go wrong with one but they are not particularly light and you said you were after something lightweight. Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
im not fussed. I live on a farm and dad goes to quite a few farm auctions so I will tell him to keep his eyes open. Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
what about this for a graft... Its only a spade but it may work. and its cheap http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-DRAPER-CARBON-ST...id=p3286.c0.m14 Quote Link to post
rabbit tourmentor 29
it sounds stupid but you cant just go grab any old spade it has to be the right one ie light wieght good strong blade good strong handle i prefer old fashioned spades because i think they are of more quality then chinese crap if your going to buy a spade of the web get some good reports of it first or you could make a mistake i would deffently buy a bulldog because they are proper good quality but will make a small dent in your pocket i know there a rabbiting spade in screwfiw for a score and abit they do wieght a tun though. richie 1
what about this for a graft... Its only a spade but it may work. and its cheap http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-DRAPER-CARBON-ST...id=p3286.c0.m14 that would be ok if you were planting potatoes ive used the bulldog spades & you wont get much better, if any, very strong & sharp enough to cut into the earth... i use the one from screwfix for £20, strong & very light weight & does the job well, not as strong as the bulldog but good enough for me.. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/31765/Hand-T...dle-Drain-Spade Quote Link to post
