McSparkie 0
Good question zebedee, I got a hw90k and could do with mounting a lamp on it. been trying to find something low weight as the rifle is over 9lb scoped as it is Try THIS it knocks spots of my Deben 12volt tactical tracer and only £9 in English money free delivery all inclusive...... I've had one of these for a while. It lights out further than I will shoot, so I get an idea of who is out there waiting for me, but it's not what I would call bright. I've also found that I get too much reflection from my moderator which messes with the scope (even after I taped it up with some Real Tree stuff), so I've slung it it below the mod and that seems to be the best set up (even if it does load the weight exactly where I don't want it). I bought one of those £10 3watt LED Tesco jobs just to see how it looks and if I could mangle the stock-squeeze-switch thingy into that - I would. I managed to allow the Tesco one to slip from my fingers onto tarmac and the switch is now shall we say: troublesome. I used the other one on three occassions (the wife had it out in the rain too), but only for an hour or so each time which killed the batteries dead! The 123 jobbies are not cheap! I also found that the batteries rattle inside the torch body. Not good when you are mid-stalk and try to bring the rifle up slowly/silently and you get a slight 'clunk'! OK, I'm sure I can eliminate this, but thought it only fair to mention it. Quote Link to post

I also fitted my light underneath the gun to eliminate this from happening. this is the gun lamp covered in camo fitted underneath the gun.... Quote Link to post

ghillies 209
from begining to end....... starts with a 3.5v krypton bulb upwards..over volt by one battery cell (in rechargeables of course) or try a 6v lead acid on a 4.8v krypton bulb..45-50 yard max untill you find a torch head with a good focus on it..gaffer tape and blue tacks well worth the effert! presure switch...scavenge anything like vidio cd player what ever, theres a set of points in there.. failing that those quid micro switch's, if you dont like the click then dismantle it and use the poins out of it..glue..milliput..bitta plastic to sandwidge it..... speaker wire for low current stuff like the led lights krypton bulbs etc.. for your distance twat lamps that burn up a few million candles use 6-9 amp(most are 3-6 amp) wire and cut some flat brass/copper/whasher plate (two pennies/washers..bolts whatever) from hobby shops etc.. shrink wrap of the net is oooooo 30p a meter ish.. summut hot like a gas solder iron with a difuser tube on it.. simply apply heat where you want it to shrink...(use the 70watt plus gas solder iron on batteries to make packs..) as in all hobby/scavenged units, the initial out pay is woooo 10-20 quid, but the bits last for 20-30 jobs... if your going up market and buying a unit..three three requirements 1......12v 2......dimmer 3......filters (4..needs a gun mount) failing that 6v 10amp sealed lead acid batters............put all lead acids on charge ASAP or they die quicker, leave um flat for a couple few odd days theyre buggered........still might hold a charge but not much the original. diochrioc lamps burn 2-8 amps.. @8 AMPS THATS AN HOUR FROM A TEN AMP BATTERY...(40 mins on an older batery) halagens generaly from 3-8 amps... theres a few new 'CREE LED' lights about i have a TK10 from fenix..weighs nothing more than two CR123 batteries, lights up to 200 meters (for real yeh) fits in an 8 ring scope mount perfic... 220luminums and well focused forwards. look about.. sure fire, ultra fire fenix... etc etc.. they all using CREE super bright lights. i orange filtered the TK10 and added another layer of orange acitate paper (70p for a sheet, used an inch circle) on the hi setting 220luminum it's good to 60-70 yards for a dim but if you look you'll make out the target through the scope.. the second low setting of 60 luminum worked well too..another layer of acetate on for ratting on that.. some LED lights have a regulater thing in them, they stay the same brightness till the battery is to low. finaly any lamp... batteries and chargers for it........nicads etc your looking for a fast charger... they say 1000 charges, only 6-800 on fast charge... rate it on 500..anything mores a bonus.(waiting for 24 hours is a pain int ass) end of the day theres only a couple issues on lamps.. how bright how focused how dim with a filter on and batteries.....................battries in yu pocket means a wire..wow such an inconvenience not! or batteries in the torch on the gun.. weight..you gotta carry it.(in your pocket a ten amp lead acids not much..on your gun you'd grumble like a little old lady after her gin overdose)..theres 12v 17.5 amp batteries about, i have carried them but you need a good bag to keep it tight to your body..wouldnt like to try the old car batteries at my age any more.. and PRICE!..............yeeeeeeeeeeowch... do you want a 10 million candle power gun lamp on a legal limit airgun? or a dwindly 70 yard max LED torch on a centerfire... (ten million candles puts beams on stuff at a mile away, no gun required cause the bunny gets cooked instantly leaving a scorch mark in the grass..joke ...) daniel8822 0
ive bought a deben tracer atom because loads of people said you only need a small light not one that scares rabbits off 2 fields away, but its rubbish i can see the eyes standing up with it on and when i look through the scope i see nuthing and i bought a filter you cant see rabbit eyes past 35 yards lol waste of 90 quid but they are less spooked if you can find them Quote Link to post

Down to your own requirements/budget but I would simply say stay away from the logan and anything that promises less than a 200 yard beam..personally I would always suggest a dimmer switch as well!! Good value.. Deben Mini/Max Pro ...better quality Lightforce. Lots in between!!! Quote Link to post
