Fussy eaters

Recommended Posts

Ive got a couple of hobs that will ignore a skinned rabbit in favour of their dry food, is this normal behaviour and has anyone else expierienced this?

This will open a can of worms but I find that mine dont touch meat because i feed them just dry food athough I do let them have the skins. If you want them to go on to meat leave them with it for a couple of days they will soon start eating when they get hungry and in this weather they meat wont go off as quick

personally i would offer both, biscuit & fresh meat, i have experienced probs in the past when they wont eat meat & will only gorge on dry food

however i always say kits should be given meat & then introduce a little dry food just as a back up & a bit of variety, also i have fed meat in the cooler evenings in the summer & then whats left sling in the bin the next morning when cleaning them out :good:

Ive to hutches the older ones only eat dry grub ,put a rabbit in and you will take it out the same way a week later .My young ferrets only eat meat and coup the bowl of dry grub over then leave it

Blackbob its personal chioce but i gut every rabbit then freeze them before feeding to cut the tapeworm burden for my ferrets i feel if you put guts in these could be loaded with tape worm .

But hey look at lions when there feeding what do they eat first the guts :icon_eek:

i just put the whole rabbit in if fresh and just take the intestines out if ime going to freeze them as all the newtrients are in the rest of the guts. i only give them dry food if there is nothing else with a little egg on top as somthing different they love it but driving round you can usually find somthing  or a can of dog food works just as well
