TIMMAY 6
last week there was a letter in my local rag attacking simon hart of the countryside alliance, and various forms of hunting. So as i am complaining to the bbc about iolo williams progamme, i thought that i would right a letter back to the local paper, what do you guys think? In response to the letter by , I for one will be voting for the conservatives in the next general election, with one of the reasons being that I would welcome the repeal of the hunting act. I have no problem with 'Dead foxes having been savaged by hounds left with their guts hanging out', as a dead fox cannot feel anything, and so I cannot see how this amounts to cruelty? And as for 'hares pulled to pieces by dogs' I believe that formal hare coursing is conducted to test two dogs, speed and agility, with the hare often getting away, or if hunting for the pot, I think that any hunter would be quite unhappy eating a hare which a dog had previously dismembered! I credit dogs with having intelligence, which means that I believe that when killing pests, their end is humane, as a dog won't want to get bitten, and will kill quickly. Controling these species by other means, runs a greater risk of animals being wounded, and escaping to endure a slow death, the use of dogs almost eliminates this risk. Rash decsions made by an ill-informed minority of 'animal lovers' often leads to greater animal cruelty, than hunters would ever do, such as mass releases of mink, from mink farms. I'm sure that in such instances the mink are very happy to have their freedom, however the thousands of native fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and small mammals are not when attacked and eaten by this alien species. These acts show a lack of understanding of basic ecology, and how the environment works! I would like to think that in a predominantly rural county that commonsense on such matters would prevail and many people would welcome a repeal of the Hunting Act. Quote Link to post

Guest little_lloyd
Thats a good letter,, You see hundreds of letters every year in different national and local papers with people who know nout telling other people who no nout how bad the feildsport world is,, If only more letters emerged from our side of the fence. One local paper just a few weeks go i read that someone who lived in inner Bristol, Was telling people that autum hunting was all about killing very young 6 week old cubs and how people on horseback drink wine and cheer when the fox is killed,, also that hunting has gone underground and meet in very out of the way places, I really had to make it clear this was not the case. Of course the letter had a picture of a very young 6 week old fox cub,, giving the image to the public that this time of year foxes had only just cameout of earth lol Quote Link to post

TIMMAY 6
Glad you all thought it was good, it's been sent, i reckon the anti's are always posting to the media, so why don't we all start complaining, writing back to letters pages, e.t.c., sure 1 or 2 letters may be ignored, but if everyone on here wrote to their local rag, i bet a few letters would be printed then! Oh and everyone contact the bbc and have a winge about their unbalanced programming!!! Quote Link to post
