Matt 160
I think that HFW has lost the plot a little bit. When you look at Escape to River Cottage, it was about him learning how to live the dream. River Cottage is now just a huge commmercial organisation. You watch the programmes, and they are all about his 'events', which must be a huge revenue earner. I was also surprised he didn't show the slaughter of the ducks, which I believe are some the most ill treated poultry in the world. A bit of a cop out if you ask me. I'm thinking of running a 'Duck out' campaign. I need the money! What happened to the on farm slaughter he was so proud about before? Those birds where packed off to the nearest large processing plant..... Cynic? Moi?

Jim Grant 4
Shit missed it. Meant to have a watch. Still if your comment is anyway near correct then maybe best missed. The critic in the TV guide from Sunday Times mentioned a Valentine Warner's programme "First shoot your rabbit" but cannot find it. Anybody see or hear of it? After the offerings BBC have been putting on for the shooting and dog community lets hope it had some accurate foorage in it.

kevegg 0
Have to say I quite liked his 'Cook on the wild side' series. Kev.
neil cooney 10,416
It was agreed on the programme that the wild duck tasted better than the domestic ducks. If you want to see animals killed buy Warrener DVDs. Or get out there and do it. River Cottage and that new show "What to eat now" are enjoyable and good PR. JMHO. Jim Grant 4
Watched V Warner's programme on Deer on Jura. Some nice bit on spices and he did grass a stag. The programme was not aimed at the country sports audience.

Anyone who already does a bit of what the programme is about will easily pick holes in the programme, but the program is designed for the general public, even though it may be a bit like looking at something through rose tinted glasses. The first ever episode was a commercial venture, anyone who thinks someone would make a warts an all series for free is naive. On the whole its a positive program on rural living including some fieldsports.

FLATCAP 6
After the bloke was trying to get the brittish public to eat carp I stopped watching. Hell eat anything !!! If he had it his way chippies would be serving a portion of tench instead of cod ! Im a carper, and the thought of eating one is wrong. I know in many countries carp is a table fish but in this country they provide sport. Its people like him that will be the cause of some of our waters prized fish going missing. Some of them costing a few grand each depending upon size. I migrate to cornwall each year to fish a carp pond that ive been fishing for over 15 years. The biggest carp is only 23 lb but I know and have photos of each and every fish in there. I get great enjoyment out of checking their weighs and condition before putting them carefully back to hopefully catch again the year after. I know they were farmed carp in the programme but with carpwaters being so widespread whats to stop people helping themselves instead of paying for fish. MAN UP LAD GET TO THE SEA AN FISH PONDS FULL OF FISH MOUTHS FULL OF HOLES LITTLE BOYS STUFF
