victor 10
alright well i was ferreting today, he in dynomight on rabbits hare and foxes, but here is the thing. as i was ferreting i saw apatch of reads that looked like thay may hold a fox, so i went inthere with my whippet x grey and one nice vixen ran out, he ran arfter her and we are in quite oped padok here and he held he for about 4 seconds and let go, he did this about 4 times untill i was too tired running around the padok trying to catch this fox. now that is my problame but as before i sayd he is good on foxes hare and rabbit, he is only good with foxes WHEN there is another dog with him, this fox would turmn around and run at him and he would cower off and try to come back to me untill i said get it mate. eventualy the fox got away little shit i thort of my dog. he has pined a few foxes out denning and held foxes when out with outher dogs, but why the f**k didnt he do it today?? anny thorts or tips to get my dog to harden the f**k up will be verrrrrry help full. i know i go abit full on but at the moment im just soo full of rage, thanks in advance. here is a link to a video on his first fox he ever bit excuse the language and ill add that i hope it dont get taken off because the ban doesnt effect me as im in Australia! and yeah io sound phsyco but anothewr friend just got a stag hound and wouldnrt shut up saying his dog is better than mine and i was right inthe moment lol. aussiedogs 0
Look at it this was mate, most people don't give foxes much credit. They have a reasonable set of fangs on them and when they are fighting for thier lives their gonna bloody use them. Not having a go at you or your dog, but your dog is not overly big (before people say anything im not saying this cross can't kill a fox). He looks to be very good on rabbit and even hares but may just not have enough size or grunt for foxes. Running with another dog i think brings great confidence (mines exactly the same). In saying that just keep running him on foxes with another dog and hopefully this may increase is confidence and hardness. All the best! Quote Link to post
Lennard 10
Maybe he's not ready yet...be patient and give him more runs with other dogs to build confidence. How old is the dog? Quit eating foxes in the mean time L Quote Link to post

DUCKWING 302
HI VICTOR , ITS A SAD FACT ..... BUT ....... THEY AINT ALL GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO GET THE JOB DONE ! YOU SEE MATE .......... IF ........ YOU ONLY BUMPED INTO A FOX ONCE IN A BLUE MOON ... AND THE DOG KILLED EVERY CATCH , SOME LESS KNOWLEDGEABLE LADS WOULD BE OVER THE MOON SAYING TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN ........HES A " GOOD " FOX DOG ............. HOWEVER IN TRUTH MOST DOGS DONT SEE ENOUGH . REGULARY ENOUGH ..... TO BE EVER CONSIDERED A " FOX " DOG AND LIKE GANGS OF HOODIE TEENAGERS , SOME DOGS ONLY FEEL " UP FOR A FIGHT " WHEN SURROUNDED BY " BACK UP " ONE OF THE REASONS I NEVER BOTHER RUNNING A DOG IN COUPLES ON FOX ........... ITS ONLY DELAYING THE INEVITABLE , IMO PAIN IS A FUNNY THING FOR SOME TO HANDLE ............ OVER THE YRS I HAVE RUN INTO A FEW FOXES THAT BEHAVED IN THE SAME MANNOR AS YOUR FOX . A THEORY OLD NUTTAL ONCE TOLD ME WAS THAT FOXES SOON LEARN THEY CAN BACK OFF A " CUR " AND AFTER THAT WILL TRY AND FRONT OUT THE DOG SO TO SPEAK .......... YRS AGO I DUG A VERY LARGE DOG FOX THAT WAS A DEVIL INCARNATE OF ABOUT 20 Lbs ..... AND HAD GIVEN LOCALS A REAL HARD TIME KILLING CATS AND ONCE SAVAGEING A YORKSHIRE TERRIER SO BAD IT WAS PTS ! ......... NOT ONLY DID HE GAVE MY OLD PARKS BITCH A HARD TIME .... BUT ... HE VERY , VERY NEARLY HAD A FINGER FROM MY HAND ............. AT THE TIME I SOMETIMES [ WITH PERMISSION ] DROPPED HEALTHY FOXES IN A HUNTS TERRITORY AS THE LOCAL KEEPERS HAD JUST ABOUT WIPED THE YOUNGSTERS OUT WITH THE LAMP AND RIFLE .........OVER A FORTNIGHT LATER THEY HUNTED THE AREA I DROPPED THIS FOX .... RAISED HIM FROM SOME RUSHES AND HE RAN ACROSS THE CENTRE OF A FIELD ...... THEN PROMPTLY TURNED AND ATTACKED THE LEAD HOUND ......... ONE CRAZY DUDE AS FOR TOUGHENING HIM UP ? ................... GAMENESS IS IN THE MIND HES FOUND OUT IT HURTS AND HE DONT LIKE IT ! ....... TIME MAY HEAL , BUT IMO I DOUBT HE WILL EVER MAKE A " GOOD " FOX DOG .... BUT MAY GO ON TO CATCH FOXES VERY FEW LADS EVER KNOW OR SEE THE TRUE MEANING OF THE WORD GAMENESS BY THE WAY ........... YEP .. YOU DO SOUND LIKE A LOON IN THE CLIP ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post

Kye 77
Wow, that is quite possibly the strangest clip ive seen on You-Tube!...lol. The dog will do it or he wont mate,...there is NOTHING you can do, if the dogs has it in him, he will, if he dosnt, you cant buy it and put it in...it sucks, but thats dogs mate. I would let the dog mature a little, keep doubling him up...but a thousand doubled up foxs, dont make a fox dog...you cant get angry at a dog for not doing what you want though mate...ive been frustrated with dogs...you will either have to put up with it, and just stick to hares and rabbits (NOTHING wrong with that anyway!) and get a dog for the fox job, or dont keep the dog anymore...looks a nice enough type...i would keep him for the jobs he is good at, and maybe he will take to fox when he wants too...but maybe not...either way, good luck! Kye.. Quote Link to post
victor 10
he has never been bitten buy anny dogs at all @ his wife.. thank you all for youe help, im going to keep usiong him on foxes with outher dogs, but not by him self unless im sure he is going to hold it. Quote Link to post
Garypco 3
bottom line is hes a whippetxgreyhound hes built and designed for rabbits and the odd hare...yes occasionally a fox will fall to this breeding but try doing it week in week out theres a difference between nailing half a dozen a year to 100+ whippet greyhounds wont and never will cut it in the foxing field theyre not single handed fox dogs end of story.. what he acheveivs the next time hel only fail another.....you should know your dogs downfalls and live with it..... victor 10
yes ive been told mate, that is why ive said ill try him out with outher pig dogs that i got foxing with.. but im not going to chase arfter him if he wants to take a fox and i am by my self again... Quote Link to post
allgame 0
well frankly there is still hope for your dog but i wouldnt count on it, as a fox dog, and its usful to have a brilliant rabbit dog or a dog that will catcha fox and hold it for a kill dog but you need a team, if you are only going to own one dog and it annoys you that much id suggest turning it over and starting freash. theres nothing wrong with turning dogs over, if he's no good give hime to someone who only hunts rabbits or hares and get your self another pup or going dog that hopfully works out (got a stag x grey for sale if intrested check on ozziedoggers). but remember the more time you waste on a dog that wont work the longer it will take before you have good dogs and no matter how much you like a dog if you had another that worked better you'd like him even more. its taken me a heap of dogs to get were i am but i still havnt got exactly what i want it'll probery take two or three litter out of the dogs iv got now before im happy but if i just lived with what i had started with it really would have been a waste of past six years. dont worry about your perants or any of your mates or anyone if your not 100% happy with the dog in your back yard give it to someone who will be and get your self somthing special you should have to live with it. also by thrashed 'his wife' means by an adult fox has it copped it bad before its definatly at the right age and it will ethier make or brake Quote Link to post
olliedakennard 0
Ever heard of a F*****g bullcross thats what there bred for. A little whippet greyhound is capable but not 100% for foxes so if youre so interested in getting foxes get a bull cross its common sense Quote Link to post
allgame 0
theres no real bull crosses in oz gotta get a stag Quote Link to post
