masmiffy 82
Out last night for some fert grub. Got these two one had no ears! Not sure what to make of it they were stubs covered with fur so looked as if it had grown like it. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Strange that! We've shot a rabbit that had the top half of both of it's ears missing before, don't know what causes it though! Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Combine harvester! Quote Link to post
tote 854
Had the ears been cut/chewed off or were they folded/rolled down? I shot a youngish one in the summer which I thought had no ears but when I was gutting it I noticed it's ears were infact complete. Somehow they had become rolled/folded down. I wish i'd taken a pic. masmiffy 82
The ears just looked like stumps really. Not 'scabby' just 'normal' but stumpy! Another pic! Quote Link to post

dogs-n-natives 1,182
The bucks fight sometimes and will chew each others ears, sometimes clean off! I used to trap hundreds of rabbits in drop-box traps, and often, i would find that some of them had had their ears chewed off whilst being in the confinement of the trap, by another rabbit. cometa300s 20
never seen that befor nice one mate Quote Link to post
Borderer 0
As the ears were normal in that they had hair covering them, I'd suggest its down to the doe being over zealous when cleaning the kits and ending up chewing of the ears. I breed a few litters of pet rabbits and have seen this happen. I have a litter on now and 1 has only 3 feet as the other looks to be chewed off! It still is as agile as the others up to now anyway. I reckon it was the mother doe as well theres a rabbit a work like that and there's nothing that could have cut them off but when ive got the rifle i never see it Quote Link to post
