I think the police do a good job, well around my way, lets face it when we need them we phone them!!!

Police will always be slagged off, this was due back to the 80's pre PACE. Batons were used much more freely on members of the public who stepped out of line! and the media only printing off bad news about them, still nothing has changed!

They are in a very stressfull job which isn't easy, they are under paid, under staffed. Could you do their job? Bet there are a few on here who would, or even have tried to get into the police force, or who are in the police force!

The police you see out in the rurals are RURAL POLICE OFFICERS. They do not go into the town unless needed. Their patch is the rurals, so when you say "GO AND CATCH PROPER CRIMINALS, LEAVE US ALONE RUNNING OUR DOGS" Well they are DOING JUST THAT, pattrolling their patch hopeing to catch someone!! or maybe not, due to the paperwork involved lol......

Stay Safe..........

There has been an 11 year old child shot dead were i live and at the time off the shooting a police officer was surposed to be there at the point on patrol instead he had stopped two lads with there lurchers not even hunting he was just harrasing them now thats not CATCHING PROPER CRIMINALS

What do you mean supposed to be there?

Did he know the shooting was going to occur?

The place were the boy got shot was were he was surpose to be patroling

Ah i see. So this place/road/house where the poor boy got shot, is it the policeman/womans fault?

Im not sticking up for the police, and yes i have called them only for them to arrive 2 days late but surely they are human and cannot be at the right place at the right time everytime?

This never happens!!!! So id look at your statement again?

Sorry but ... I, for one, am glad to have the police around. Like several occassions when my ex battered me senseless and the time he threatened to kill me. They were very helpful and courteous and followed up and seemed to care. They were there when I needed them. That's what they're supposed to be for. If it hadn't been for them responding when they did I can tell you now I wouldn't be here.

But I do think the powers that be should be more concernend with dispatching them for what really counts and not having a bunch of them sat round drinking tea, with night vision goggles looking for poachers.

There is a great lack of respect from some folks who hunt (chavy types who are cruel, and disrespectful of the land they poach on for instance), and personally I think it's those few who've brought everyone else to the attention of the coppers and media lately.

That, or the cops just can't be arsed to have their faces punched in by all the drunken arseholes in most town centres over the weekends

Am not saying that its there fault am pointing out that if there was more police they could police the ban but there isnt so they have to prioritise and iff there is a well knowin area of gun crime you have to put this area at the top off the list

A few years ago myself, my wife and three friends were training dogs for tracking on land we had permission to be on. It was dark and a local busy body saw three cars with dog cages in the back and phoned the local station to report us for hare coursing (At 11pm), the first we knew was when the chopper lit us up, we were doing nothing wrong so we carried on and as we left the field we were confromted by a full transit van, a dog van and two patrol cars. Even though we only had a collection of shepherds and collies, on land where we had permission and quite clearly not hunting I was sat in a police car and messed about before given a producer and sent on my way.................Even if I had been coursing, what a waste of resources.

Few weeks back there was an episode of sky-cops,the eye in the sky was looking for poachers decimating the fallow in Londons east-end,they got a shout some guys had been spotted with rifles on parkland, hovered above a few guys with a deer and rifles, kept them there as loads of plod huffed-and-puffed over a few muddy fields from their vehicles, guys were 100% legit and were culling excess animals, well done sherlock :whistling:

im sure some one once told me it costs a thousand pounds an hour to keep a helicopter in the air!!

Their you go, an absulate waste of money then, better spent, keeping the streets clean of youths stabbing inocent folks, drug pushers, pedo's, ect ect ect....They should be hovering above them, instead of fellas taking a few hares ect...

I quite agree Frank ,someones got their priorities badly wrong here.Only in the UK could this daft waste of tax payers money go on.Inan.That million £ donation from the IWWF to the Labour Party sure went a long way.Inan.
