Kat 3 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Share Posted October 13, 2008 Harris hawks go successfully well into their teens. My friend still hunts his mhh who is 17yrs old. Falcons again into their teens. Owls however vary on the size somewhat.. the larger the owl the longer it lives for. Its like all working animals though it depends on the upkeep of the animal over the years and the amount of batterings its taken on quarry and the odd scrape and cut etc. Quote Link to post

I flew a 18 year old Goshawk in 1997 for part of a season called "Belen" which belonged to a pal! she was flown again until she was 20 - 21 by her owner and then retired. the bird was also carrying some lead shot in her chest from a previouse encounter with a keeper some years before but still got the job done, by the time I flew her she was getting past the taking Gamebirds in flight stage but still balistic on Rabbits and Hares ...
