gutting knife

HeHe actually that monstrosity lives in a dusty old drawer, looks very macho, but doesn't even have an edge

 

This is the little blade I use for gutting n skinning, opens one handed.

 

 

If I forget that one [ I'm old and memory impaired ] I always have me leatherman attached to my belt

i tried one of these too! actually not a bad knife to say it REALLY was a 3 quid car boot job! nowadays this is my gutting/skinning knife...

I use an opinel no. 7 nice knife and keeps its blade. cheap aswell. I pick em up in france when we go on holiday and they are real cheap

never did get on with opinel's!lol. not bad knives at all but i just don't like them. plus,i hate the locking system. so do cold.wet hands!lol.

i agree 100% you just cant beat them! Sharp as a razor, easy to sharpen and if you lose one, which i invariably do eventually they are cheap. i buy a handful and keep one in each jacket, the ferreting bag and one in the van.

ive bought knives and tbh i have a habbit of loosing etc

 

was in b&q a while back and saw this folding stanley knife works a treat and when blade gets dull u just change it. skins like a dream.

Agreed the stanley/craft knife type opens rabbits up like a tin of beans

I agree will.f11, i've had mine for at least 15 years and in that time it's done thousands of rabbits. Mind you the blades not as big as it was.

Looks like we have hit on something here..the Opinel is often overlooked as it appears cheap and simple and ordinary..fact is IT IS..but it is also much underated by everyone, except the owners, well worth a try!! ....and it does hold an edge much better than you would expect!!

I've always liked Opinel knives; cheap, sharp, basic; heres a "pimped" one I was given by a mate of mine, "Gin";

mate, ive used a blade like the opne you got givven, now i pouch rabbits and take the skins off them at home, but that blade was s**ting me up the wall, i couldnt get it into it's gut. you may use a diffrant way but i always use my little winchester

Anyone tried the Frosts Mora high carbon fixed blade knife?

 

Seems a tough cookie, sharp as a razor, and cheap at well under a tenner.

opinel no.8 for me although i quite often snap the tips off my opinels although i do abuse them...

not tried, or even seen one, however havin looked at their site i might treat myself to one. the Swedes have always made good steel
