aussiedogs 0
Just curious to see if anyones hounds have ever killed something they weren't meant to (ie stock or neighbours pet bunny) and what the result/reaction was. Last year when my dogs were out they got the neighbours cat (they only had it for 2 seconds but it was beyond repair) so the poor bloke had to shoot it ( we're out of town a bit). It was my fault (not the dogs) for not keeping a better eye on them, i was sincerly sorry, helped them burry it and offered that when they were ready to get a new one i would get it. They were actually very good about, better than i would have been. Was just interested in seeing if anyone had a similar experience although i realise some people would want to keep it hush hush. zap 4
well i,m guilty of the same thing my old terrier nailed my nieghbours cat when we stayed on the farm ,i blame the misses as i was walking away over the first field next to our house i had a old terrier my lab and a terrier pup only 13 weeks old ,my misses thought it was funny standing shouting puppy puppy puppy as i walked away with the dogs i got about a hundred yards away and the pup ran back to her but there is a road to cross to get from the field to the house .so i ran after it and caught it just before the gate i was to busy explaining politely that it was not the cleverest thing to do when i,m trying to get it out used with listening to me ect well i never noticed old rock had shot under the fence and had nailed my nieghbours cat in the back of there coal bunker it was only when my lab took of round the back of the house and started going nuts at the coal bunker i opened the top to see a terrier looking up at me wagging his tail while crunching this cat he looked well pleased with him self and to him he had done nowt wrong ,the misses comes round and see,s whats happened and i say well is it still as funny if you had never shouted on that pup i would have been long gone over the field ,but there again if i had kept them on the lead until i was away out the way but why take the blame we have women for that lol i was tempted to toss the cat away into the wood but another nieghbour come out so i had to hold my hands up they were pissed of big time but knew it was an accident Quote Link to post
Tiff 36
IMO cats and rabbits are a bit different from livestock ... not that it's okay but it is different. If your dogs hunt something, and your neighbor keeps that same things as a pet, just be extra vigilent all the time. It can be a bit awkward to say the least. Quote Link to post

aussiedogs 0
As a friend said to me "Hunting dogs mate....they hunt" haha. Accidents happenand i think most people will realise that. Shattering about the pigeons though. Would have hurt the old wallet. Quote Link to post
