Doglost Co-Ordinator 4
Got my 10yrs old labx & 2 yr old alsation/greyx insured with Direct Line, they crap for cars but dog cover not bad. Still paying £23 a month for both of them & since Jan they've had £1000's. Both a bar of dark choc & ended up on drips for 2 days, labx has thyroid prob & on thyroxin for life. I've only got basic cover which means her thyroxin is for 12mths or £4k but with bad cut to foot courtesy of prats from council cutting through glass bottles, the choc saga which was £1500 by the end cos old dog had liver & pancreas prob I darent cancel mine. Even to get basic cover is at least peace of mind. I know some of you treat a lot of stuff yourselves- so do I but I'd have been up the creak if they didn't have insurance when they raided holiday shopping.
Guest bitsa lurcher
Ok so heres the details.....Black lab i owned from a pup, insured the day i picked him up with PETPLAN, cost £10 a month. The dog has just turned 8 yrs old and i have only ever claimed once on the insurance and the cost of the claim was approx £150 so nothing major. The other day i recieved a letter from PETPLAN saying my premium was going up to £42 a month!!!!!!Phoned to ask why and they said it was due to his age.....I am really really off to say the least! All those years i might aswell have paid the money into an account set aside for vets bills. I have cancelled the insurance. can anyone suggest another insurance company? do you insure all your dogs ?? was going too but now our pack has grown to 10 i think im gonna opt with the bank account option otherwise it would cost a fortune!. the mrs used to work at a vets so she does most of the 'treatment' at home its only major things that they go the vets for. how you anyway mate? i'm ok , one dog less as you know i'm running the black bitch for now what the f**k do you want 10 dogs for ??? you seem to be going down the same road as i did when i was keeping terriers and lurchers . if memory serves me correctley i had 16 dogs here at one time . best thing i ever did was down size . 6 is plenty

Imperfection 0
Once upon a time,i too used Petplan, but they stuck their premiums up so much the monthly amount was more than my house and car insurance combined.Admittingly at the time i had a Rottweiler which attracted bad press, but it still dont excuse plain old greed. I switched to Direct Line and used them for years, but i now have a Bullmastiff and recently moved to Tescos who were half the price again. The policy is less i must add as it will only pay illness/accidents etc £2,500 per year, but with how things are-im looking at ways to save money. Try Tescos!
