Why didn't you shoot the 8 yards fella? Stopped a fox at 8 yards with a shot once, was standing too which is never my favourite. The battery is gone in my NF as well but I never use the ill ret, previous owner seems to have done though.

 

The shooter was standing to my right and the fox approached from my left, shooter would have had to shoot through me to get him. If I had a shottie though he would have got nailed.

You should see me duck scaring, I don't like to call it shooting as it belittles the skills of folk who can actually shoot

You know what John I don't think you're too far wrong there. It is an awesome scope but its way too much for my needs. I was thinking of trading it for a lower value tactical style scope (falcon optics, bushnell elite, leupold something or other) and the leica laser range finder. Something like that.
