Tommy 9
Here's another pic from a few years ago !!! It was after an early season lamping trip down in shropshire and the rabbits were a joint effort between my dads old bedlington x bitch and his Weirach Hw80. All the best Tommy Quote Link to post
Tommy 9
This again is a picture of my dads old saluki cross bitch. She was bred by my dad and was a big factor in me getting into the coursing game. She was bred from my dads old lurcher bitch (greyhound x collie with a bit of saluki basically) back to a real good Saluki lurcher. The dog was from the same village as us and for his time was a real good dog, regulary killing 3 from 3 around Gainsborough etc.. As well as breeding this bitch he was also used on a few other bitches and a few turned out to be decent. This bitch was mainly used as a lamping and ferreting dog as my dad wasn't a big coursing fan, but when given a chance she proved to be a real handy coursing dog. It was with this bitch that i caught my first hare and this memory will stick with me forever. As the dog got older i became more active in the lurcher game this dog gave me hours of hunting/coursing. The down side to the bitch was that she wouldn't stand for a dog so her bloodline couldn't be carried on through her. And when taken to be studded she wasn't to pleased at all and things could have turned out nasty if the dogs hadn't been seperated. Things didn't turn out that bad as we carried on the bloodline through her half sister insted. I have a lot to thank this bitch for as she taught me a lot !!!!! All the best Tommy Quote Link to post
Tommy 9
This is my current bitch aged 12 months old (she now 4 years old) with one of her first single handed hares. She bred from my dads old lamping strain to a saluki cross dog and has been a real good coursing dog for me !! All the best Tommy Quote Link to post

Tommy 9
R 8 fella's !! Baz i'm not from Appleby mate it was a bit of permission we used to have on a golf course up that way. I really like the flat lands (lincs, Norfolk) but have to say it's beautiful country up there in Appleby !!! The old bedlington cross and the old saluki cross both took fox on a pretty regular basis, but my present dogs aren't given access to regular fox work, (my brown bitch has had a few) so they can't be classed as fox takers !!!! I'll try and find a few more old photo's has i've got a few albums full !!! All the best Tommy Quote Link to post
baz 463
i live near appleby but travel down to lincoln every week. your right it is nice down there Quote Link to post
Tommy 9
Another pic from a few years back !!! These two dogs are half sisters (they have the same mother). The bedlinton type bitch was only young here and her catch was the three rabbits. The four hares were caught by the old saluki type bitch. Looking at these old pics brings back some fond memories. Tommy 9
Another pic here !! This is a bit more up to date !! This is one of my bitch with an early season single handed hare. This pic was taken in the 2004-2005 season and the bitch killed me a lot of hares that year. Her best performance in that season was 4 from 5 and that was done in the last week of Feb. She's now four years old, but out of action with a broken toe, i can't wait for next season as she will be able to run her again !!! All the best Tommy Quote Link to post

Tommy 9
This bitch was the start of the bloodline of dog that i'm running now. She was basically Greyhound/collie/saluki and was a decent enough bitch in her day. The main problem with this bitch was that she seemed to be accident prone and never went without taking bump of cut. She was mated twice and both litters were good, her first litter (back to a saluki/greyhound) produced at least three good dogs and her second (back to a bedlington/greyhound/saluki/whippet) produced two good dogs that we know of. The best trick the bitch did was retrive live to hand and one night out lamping she caught something out of the beam and brought it back to my elder brother, he put his hand out and then realised that it was a RAT that was very much ALIVE , he soon put his hands back in his pockets !!!! Just to illustrate the point, one of many pictures of the bitch with bandages on her !!!! She was one GAME bitch and always gave 100%, fair enough she wasn't the best dog ever but was a grafter.
