Radders 0
Just got my first shotgun (Lovely Beretta Silver Pigeon III) and i've got a couple of questions. I gave it a good clean and oil with my gun cleaning kit and it looks great. Can I leave the gun in it's slip in the cabinet? Could i put a VP90 sachet in the slip? Just seems a bit easier than putting the slip one place and leaving the gun in the cabinet. Thanks Quote Link to post
landrover 6
if i were you i would not leave the gun in the slip, the slip may get damp or wet inside and you not notice, all our guns stay out of the slips when in the cabinet, but we do use a sachet of vp90 in the cabinet Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
as above dont leave it in the slip it will get the dam in if left for any lenght of time. i leave my rifles in the cabinet in there slots and put a couple of the vapour shield patchs in there with them Quote Link to post
riggers 2
mate hang your gun slip with your shooting jacket you need that when you go shooting so you grab both at once again never leave your gun in the slip in the cabinet surface rust is a blooming pain in the arss to get rid of and if i had your gun i would caress it every day and name her Quote Link to post
Radders 0
if i had your gun i would caress it every day and name her Haha Haven't named her yet - thanks for all the advice. Will take her out of the slip. The foam support came unstuck when I installed the cabinet so I'll need to restick that in. I obsessively cleaned it when i got it home. Just ordered some snap caps and some gun grease. I'll leave the slip somewhere warm and dry. Thanks all. Peter Quote Link to post
Winchester 6
Just a little one when you put your gun in the safe store it barrel down this stops any oil ingresing into your stock also when you get it out the buisness end isnt pointing in your face. barells are faceing the floor Edited October 8, 2008 by Winchester Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Guys...I am know that I am in the minority here but I do, and always have left ALL my guns in the slip in the cabinet! It is however, very important, as everyone has said, to make sure gun and slip are perfectly dry before you do this. If I am out on a damp night the slip is dried for at least 24 hours before going back on the gun. I have never had any problems but you most certainly will if you do not keep everything perfectly dry!! Quote Link to post
