whistler1 26
hello all i have bought one of the pumps for precharged guns and i have tryed to use it but it dosent seem to work. i was just wondering if any one could tell me what to look for so i no its working. sorry for sounding a little dumb ass but hey thats life lol Had one for a short time befoe i seen the light and got a 12l 300bar bottle. When i used it on my s410 i had to cock it first. And obviously make sure the bleed valve was closed before pumping. Is the needle moving on the pump gauge. First 75 to 100 bar should be relativly easy to pump. Then it gets a little harder, that is actualy when you start filling thr cylinder hope this helps as i said only had the hills pump for a wee while otb Brian Quote Link to post
rabbit_killer 2
i was always told these are no good for your gun as they are not filterd properly and you get microscopic peices of grit ect through the gun and it messes it up in the long run!!! is this true i can only go on what i was told?? cometa300s 20
the needle doesent move unless i pump realy fast wil this change when i get to about 60 barr as stated above. thanks guys Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
Sounds like the pumps working ok so the air must be escaping somewhere? as above ensure the bleed valve on the pump is closed, the pipe is tightened properly and the fitting into the gun is inserted correctly. Does your gun have a safety feature on it to stop you charging it's whilst cocked or uncocked If it still doesn't work then may be worth visiting the gun shop? Cheers Luke Quote Link to post
whistler1 26
the needle doesent move unless i pump realy fast wil this change when i get to about 60 barr as stated above. thanks guys As long as the needle dosent travel back to were it started from, when you stop pumping. Then the pump is fine. If you are having to pump very fast to get the pump gauge to read 60Bar,then it sounds as if your gun cylinder is empty before you start. That would explain why it seems you are getting no whare when pumping very fast. Never tried it with my s410 but was told it was dificult,as you cant get the required pressure in the guns cylinder to rise quick enough to close the valve. If that is the case you need to use a dive cylinder. The trick with these pumps,is to never let your gun go below 100bar Best to do your pumping after a shoot rather than before...dosent sound right Gives you time to get your breath back hth Brian Quote Link to post
mad al 146
I've got a pump for the PCP's...................in the cupboard where it's feckin staying . Moisture has always been an issue with them and hard going if the buddy bottle has a fair capacity is the other thing. Only use mine in an emergency, like when I've a flat on the mountain bike Quote Link to post
cometa300s 20
the needle only goes up when im pumping when i stop it goes back down. i think it is because i have to much air in the cylender to push the valve open. so im just going to wait till it realy needs pumping up and give it a go. could this be the reason for it ? thanks for the posts guys Quote Link to post
meinnotts 1
make sure the bleed valve is closed tightly, push in the adaptor, start pumping it should fairly quickly reach a point at which it appears that the needle isn't moving as the pressure equalises between the cylinder and the pump, carry on pumping and slowly the needle will move up, pump upto required pressure, slowly release the bleed valve and remove the adaptor if you cannot get any pressure into the system then (not sure with the ultra) you may have let the pressure drop in the gun air cylinder too low to hold the valve closed when you pump and effectively you then pump forever without it ever filling, if this has happened a dive bottle will be needed to fill it - its important with some guns to keep the pressure above a certain level - i have a Ultra, i know when its full to about 200bar i can get about 35 shots out of the cylinder, at which point i always refill otherwise i presume a leaking seal somewhere on the pump or fill adaptor ????? cometa300s 20
thanks for that celticwar i think it is because there is still to much air in the cylender could this be the problem Quote Link to post
