When you say joints mate do you mean the join to the body.Tails have no joints, they are made up of bones ,36 in all, which get progressively smaller towards the end.If the baldness is at the join to the body then it probably started off as a flea problem.Even when defleaed regular this is where they irritate the dog most .Some dogs lick or bite this area out of habit after a flea attack.I take it the area is not red and inflamed or you would have said. fr0gman4 0
not sure its the same thing your on about Lucky but I have two Bull terriers here and both of em got a small bald patch about half an inch down the base of the tail near to where it joins onto the body. They werent biting or scraping at all from what I could see and it didnt seem to be causing eiter of em any discomfort but while I had one of em at the vets for another reason I got him to have a look at it. He reckoned it was something relating to the anal gland and he stuck his fingers up the dogs arse to which the dog started throwing us both round the room. Anyroad when he had finished and wiped all the shitty mess up I took the dog home and after about a week the fur had started to grow back and it was sorted. Took the bitch down shortly after he did the same thing with her and same result. Tail sorted.feed both of mine on raw meat, bones.veg, fish etc and vet reckoned might be a slight diet inbalance. Guest trev
Got to agree its because the dog is constatnly on his tale, wether he is sleeping on it or sitting on it or a combination of both. Plenty of vasaline rubbed into the tail will help the skin grow back, or if you can get some benzyly benzonate it works even better. I get it alot in the greyhounds lucky and thats what i use.
