At last, a good reply.

A few words that speaks volumes about the way it used to be.

The locator has completly changed terrier work, and for the better too.

there is a few ways of finding terriers without locators but non as productive as the modern day system,t bar, marking dog, ear to the ground etc,but many moons ago we tried them all and non worked,i went to get my hero an old keeper who taught me most things i knew and still do today,i explained the situation to him he went to his shed got a long hose pipe, and followed me into the woods, taking out his knife he wickled a peace of wood into a peg put it in to the hose and thread it down the entrance to the earth being on a steep bank we couldnt here much but all i will say after trying several differant tunels pullin the hose out checking it for dog hair we found the dog,now this was back in the late 60s when we didnt have locators we gog the dog and thats all that counts, mark
