Problem with mk 3

Recommended Posts

My mark 3 has stopped working. i've got no idea why, its got brand new batteries in both collar and reciever and all it does is make a feeble squeak when turned off or on. it worked fine all last season.

Any ideas?

Batteries are definately the right way round, good point about the damp though. its been in the shed all summer but its not a damp shed and all the other gear in there shows no sign of damp. into the airing cupboard it is then

i am experiecing trouble i have heard the mk 3 is full of faults too but as yet deben are unwillling to admit it as they will be over run with returns i have to buy a new pack of batteries soon and try it one more time it is the box not the collar as i know my collar is ok as my bud found it with a mk one box though it was a wee bit out but not much. apparently the points wear out after a period of usage.

Bloody hell :wallbash: How hard can it be to make them properly? it was little gem last season but not worth a w*nk at the moment, still in the airing cupboard while i hope for a miracle!

did you manage to sort your mk3 out ? i took mine out a few weeks back & it didnt work for the first 5 minutes, then it made a quieter sound than normal, then after 5 minutes it seemed to be fine...

i had mine stored in the internal garage, so i put mine down to that..

did you contact deben ?

see deben have launched a Mk3 M that is for magnetic. I suppose they did not want to call it the Mk4??? have a look it indicates to me that the Mk3 has more problems than we know.

Uh, how did you get to that conclusion?

I spoke to one of the guys from Deben at the Midland Game Fair, he said the new collar works exactly the same as the old one except it's waterproof and has a leather strap. I guess this is why it's still a Mk3.

Anyone used one yet?

make sure you are using SILVER OXIDE batteries and NOT ALKALINE this is the usual reason for the fault you describe......also, try not to get your greasy paws on the batteries, silver oxide batteries can discharge themselves if they get the grease off your hands on them

Just took it out of the airing cupboard where its been for a few days to make sure its not damp.

The bloody thing has now gone mental!!! :icon_eek: When i hold it, it makes a constant squealing noise in different pitches that seems to have no bearing on the position of the collar but when my other half holds it the thing is as quiet as a mouse???

i reckon its f*cked and will contact deben now. :censored:
