sirbeesting 4
if you've got pats and are happy with them stay with them, not calling borders there a few good dogs out there but i thinks not that many,if you get a good border they are good but like i say stick with your pats Quote Link to post
LAKEYDUGS 0
Ma mate has a good strain of working borders and they all do the damage, Not my cup of tea but everyman to his own, Cant fault any of his and had agood dig to his young bitch 6 weeks ago, If you have the room then no harm in giving 1 a chance if it doesn't work out then get rid. Guest RobW71
If you're unsure, I'd stick with the Patts . Gash Dogs aren't items of clothing,, take them back if they don't suit. There's two many unwanted dogs around as it is. Regards Rob Quote Link to post

PBurns 9
A small border out of working lines is an excellent thing, but hard to find. Borders are the #10 dog in popularity in the UK, but it's hard to find real workers who have done more than a few digs, and even harder to find a history of serious workers on both sides of a pedigree. Also, many borders are slower to enter -- not all, but it's the way to bet. Add to that the generally higher expense of the dogs, and you see why patt and jacks are more common and popular. I have always had a border, but they are a different acquisition equation and quite a different dog. You can easily feed a border for two years before you see what you have. True at times for individuals of the other breeds, but more often true with borders. Patrick Quote Link to post

Regards Rob If they dont do the damage or make the grade then what's the point of keeping them , it is trial and error not every dog turns out to be a worker! So what would you do if a dog you had didn't turn out the way you expected keep a hold of it? Regards Gash Quote Link to post
Guest Uk_Hunter
stick to you patts most borders take years to come on Quote Link to post
Guest RobW71
That's not open for discussion, one thing's for sure, they don't get past on where they then usualy end up getting passed from pillar to post, which is often the case. Regards Rob Quote Link to post
