What to Say

Recommended Posts

To gain permissions, i've always sent out letters and it's worked reasonably well.

But some people prefer to go knocking on doors and I want to try this method instead.

But what should I say to the landowner? Is there anything I should definetly/definetly not include?

Thanks in advance.

First of all, I'd turn up in normal, smart-ish clothes ... avoiding jeans. Have a shave too, hehe. Just simple start with the following after the door opens:

"Good afternoon, I'm sorry to trouble you but was wondering if I might help with with any problems you might have controlling vermin such as rats / squirrels / rabbits / rooks / pigeons {etc}. I'm an airgun enthusiast and full member of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, and therefore responsible and fully insured. If I can be of any help to you please let me know ... here's my card."
