kristian 9
My mate had a smk (chinese rubbish) air rifle which seemed like a tidy little gun for starting out he managed to drop a rabbit at 30 yds with it clean kill too! but one day we were out and it just went off on it's own when we were stalking a squidgy and was very dangerous in the end he chucked it and bought a bsa lightening which i think was only about £120 but was a brilliant gun well worth the money! now he's well into shooting though he got a wicked gun airarms s410 moral of the story is just get rid of it and don't bother fixing you can pick tidy springers up very cheap these days Quote Link to post
scothunter 12,609
chuck it in the bin, save your money and buy a decent rifle Totally agree matey All that rifle is gonna get you, is a load of hassle from the cops or worse an accident Quote Link to post
Coney 3
could be that the sear isn't strong enough to hold the compressed spring? try adjusting your trigger to a heavier pull weight. oh,and get it pver a chrony! Sound's spot on to me "pitindall1978", had the same problem with a HW80.... Quote Link to post
ChrisJones 7,975
What rifle is it matey? it a chinese rifle acording to guy at gun shop You've taken arguably the worst rifle in production and tried to tune into something it's not capable of. The spring you've put in may be the right one for the gun but you've not taken into account the stresses it puts on the other components, hence the dangerous firing. The best analogy I can think of is that you've squeezed a V12 into a Reliant Robin and neglected to fit the necessary supporting equipment, i.e brakes, steering, transmission and extra wheel. Basically you're trying to polish a turd. You'd be far better off buying a rifle that is capable of what you're trying to achieve. You can't buy an Austin Maestro and expect it to perform like a Ferrari just by changing the air filter, and exhaust, to 'release a few horses' Quote Link to post
