JMHO. it is hard to hold a rifle dead still when you have walked far. a fox is alot bigger then a rabbit but have you seen the size of a fox in the scope at night at 200 yards + even with high mag he is small. so dont tell me there is no skill to it ! i could say its more skillful then if you hunt with dogs then ! there seams to be alot of dog men on here that dont like the shooters but we dont slag you off ! if thats your thing then so be it shooting is ours. how would a dog guy like it if i said shooting is more skillful then using the dog i could say we shoot the rifle where you just hold the lamp and the dog does your work for you each to there own lads Quote Link to post
BIGPETE 0
Me and David went lamping the other night and landed fox No 50 of this year. FD we went to the place I took you first where you shot a fox. Remember that 1st fox we squeaked in , well it was in the same place but didnt hang around this time We then lamped the other side of the farm where we saw nowt and I spied this one a good 300 yards away , I called and it came in a treat , straight down the beam to around 100 yds which is when David dropped it Absolutely spot on you two, cracking shooting and well done to the pair of you and from what I have seen/read on this forum you have done far too much first class stalking and pest control to bother what that tit of the first degree posts. Good shooting, keep at it because if I can't get out my self at least I can read about it. Quote Link to post

High powered rifles, various calls, high powered lamps with various lenses, sound moderators. And in the late Summer and Autumn too. Good skilled sportsmen. LOL. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
Listen lads why the fook is there a slagging match going on here, we're all here for the enjoyment of the sport be it dogs or rifles we're on the same side........REMEMBER that because most of the nations are willing us to fail in what we love most country pursuits.............. DO the riflemen complain when you make a kill with your dogs and slate you for it? i think not............... Pest control is always a problem...........and the fact that there are so many says so. i shot a hell of alot of one farm last year, and was stunned to see so many back again this year So dig if you dig shoot if you shoot and keep stupid comments to yourselves............We're here to hunt and share our experiences and knowledge with others.........nuff said. peace Quote Link to post

IanB 0
People are entitled to an opinion and I can see were neil, etc are coming from its frustrating if your a dog man seeing foxes being taken in big numbers every week using rifles.... but obviously this is part and parcel of the permission for some people to shoot, so they control numbers.... Myself I won't knock other peoples sports, I prefer hunting with dogs any day... but shooting is a legal, lethal and effective way of controlling foxes... We just need to accept it without arguements as everyone will do as they do regardless... Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Well Done FoxHunter, can't complain at 50!! There are a lot here, I may have had 50 by the end of the year perhaps. OK, there are different methods of controlling foxes yes? We all know this, we all know that there are some who prefer them to be left for dogs, others prefer to shoot them in number to protect various interests. Pest Control is what the game is and it has the same result! Dead Foxes! You will very rarely see me post in the Lurchers/Terrier Section as its very rarely I have something constructive to say, If a friend has a post which I'm interested in, I'll reply. But you will never see me complaining in this way about Dog men killing foxes in there! Nor will you see Shooters in there complaining in general, they just don't! There are a good number of members on here, I know of quite a few, who enjoy both aspects, Shooting and Dogs. They find different uses for both of them. I really cannot understand the urge for some of the dog men to post in here just to cause annoyance. What is the point in infighting? What are you hoping to achieve? A Ban on Shooting as well just to reset old debts? It's complete and utter mystery to me. All I know is that I am losing a lot of respect for Dog men very quickly apart from those I know to be genuine. Roll on the next one FH Regards SS Quote Link to post
ChrisJones 7,975
Good shooting yet again.. ..as you know i dont like the shooting of fox's and hare's..But who am i to judge anyone..it's your chosen method and a very effective method at that..keep at it and i hope you reach the hundred mark before the season is over.. .. One thing i must add though.. and that is why do people come on here slating shooting when they clearly dont agree with it..the best thing to do would be DONT read the shooting section then you wont be unhappy with it..it's that simple.. Millet P.s To anyone wanting to contact David..the last time i spoke to him his computer was down.. For every shot they complain about, I'll take another... Quote Link to post
