sometimes you can tell by the noise of the dog whether or not he's at a fox or rabbit... an old bitch i had would have went into fits of rage when she was working her way up to a fox but when she was digging her way up to a rabbit she only gave the odd bark...

its best not to hunt rabbits but if you work alot of cover then they nearly all get a bit rabbitty, IMO

good age to enter him to fox. as for rabbits, not ideal that he hunts them but doesnt mean he wont make a good fox dog. the best terrier i ever had would hunt anything with fur, once you learn to read the dog you'll know if they are at bunnies or not. also i find they will always hunt a fox before a bunnie.

thats exactly what i think... and you should never intentionally go digging for rabbits, if mine barked at a rabbit then i let him be until he gets sick of it, i dont recall ever a terrier being able to dig his way up to a rabbit, its just best to walk away and call him out... a terrier will be able to read you as well as you being able to read him... any of mine knew when i had a spade over my shoulder and i was strappin on the locater collars it was time for buisness...
