ive done a bit of shooting mainly as a quick and easy way of pest control on me farm but i dont get the fun in it for a sport. now i beleive in each to there own but i see shooting as point, aim and if your lucky what your shooting is dead before it knows what hit it. im not after a slagging match just would like to know what enjoyment the shooters out there get out of shooting and why they prefere to shoot.

shooting isnt just all * bang and thats it - game over*

shooting is a skill - which to be honest takes some learning - not everyone can pick up a gun and be a cracking shot , as with anything takes time to learn , and also effort -

now for me , i work lurchers - and IMO would rather work them as i get more enjoyment from that than shooting , i have shot with a shot gun , as my step dad is a keen shot gunner , clays and game - but i opted fot the working dogs route than stay where he introduced me to the sporting world , with shot guns .

but were all the same people after the same things - just different methods , wheather it be , working dogs - lurchers/terriers , to shooting , or even trapping .

i thik stalking deer, shooting pheasants and duck and geese and pigeons and ll that vert admirable takes skill and fieldcraft. i dont think there is alot of skill or challenge in shooting ground quarry such as rabbit hare and fox. my friends that shoot will tell me shooting a fox with a rilfe or shotgun standing or flushed is easy for them. I have sot rabbits and its not hard i would not shoot a hare but I could have alot of times.

Good on you mate.

why? i prefer hunting with dogs liek i said THEY could argue that... i didnt say that my dogs could

i get what your saying, they would not have much of an aguement, it takes so much more that point and aiming a bull x, first you start with a 5-6week old welp, care for it, then train it, give it the confidence it needs to take the quarry you want. theres none of that in shooting.

God there's a bitchy lot on here at times  , now I thought this was a hunting site and whatever floats folks boats well feckin good for them :notworthy:

Now surely the common thing with all our"tools for the job" is that they're used to hunt and one man's meat is another man's poison so to speak, unfortunately threads like this always lead to mass spitting of dummies  , so why not just keep the replies civil (I was going to say sensible, but then I'd be fecked!!!), give the guy a chance, he's asked an opinion, so just post yours, serious/ funny/whatever and as the shepherd said to the sheepdog:-

"Get the flock outta here!!!!!!!" :drink:
