skinnyrat 0
just add a little fat to thier diet, ask the butcher for some fat,and add a little cube to thier meal,or feed fatty meat like breast of lamb,or full fat milk, double cream etc, good luck Skinnyrat Quote Link to post
Tommy 9
Agree with what you boys have been saying. If your feeding is up to scratch and your dogs are then getting cold in the kennel they will burn their fat content trying to keep warm, causing your dog to lose condition. Through the winter my lurchers are kennelled on Oat straw and there kennel has an electric supply so additional heat (heat lamp) can be applied. When i first got my greyhound bitch, and was new to greyhounds i was given a coat (bed rug)with her. I thought this wasn't needed and didn't kennel the bitch with it on. I soon notiched a change in her condition and she now always wears a 'rug' to kennel at night and her condition is 10 times better. Talking to a few old 'SCHOOL' lurcher men they think that extra heat and coats are a load of shite, but personally these extra's seem to help and if things work then they are definitly worth using. All the best Tommy Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
yep stick a coats on them 24/7 if you have to and make sure their kennels are warm and that they have plenty of drinking water .... FAT will not put weight on a dog FAT is whaere dogs get all their energy from .... PROTEIN is what puts weight on a dog .... so if you want to feed a little more to keep the weight on then feed more proteins such as chicken ........ Quote Link to post
