LamperJohn 12
A question for the bull lurcher enthusiats how many years have you been running them ?????????????regards john my current dog is my first bull cross and he will be three in novmber. my last dog was part bull/ wheaten. i had him from 2001 till 2003. my current dog was bred by my friend and he was one of the first lads in my town to have bull crosses. prior to this there were wheatens, collie, saluki deerhound whippet irish terrier/ greyhounds and various crosses. Bull crosses were not that common in my town until 2002 now most of the lads have one along with other crosses in their yard. It seems that they have been popular in regions in England and Wales long before this. If i am totally honest i would prefer a well bred.wheaten cross lurcher over a Bull for foxes. But my current dog has been hard work with good rewards and he wont leave my yard til his four feet are in the air. cheers adam ,from my area n/w england between wigan-bolton they were getting really popular earlly 90s ive got one here 10 years old now bought my first one when i was 15 now im 29, regards lamperjohn Quote Link to post

littletimmy 71
Well said mate, its shame really as alot of young hunters will read all the hype and go for a bull x and there is a lot of shite bred from any greyhound over a pet staff non of which are tested and they think that because its a bull x it WILL kill everything and theres alot of people that just have them because they look "macho" they are a nice looking dog and very capible dog in the right hands but just because its a bull x dont meen it will do everything expected without putting in the time and effort. and it doesnt meen that they can do everything better then other crosses, thats just my opinion. W.h Alot of people breed of tried but not tested stock too. These people are just as bad as breeding shite to shite if you ask me Quote Link to post
Guest Taffybull
i think what your sayin lucky is pretty bang on accurate mate. ok im an owner of a bull blooded lurcher. but because im young and own one. does'nt mean im like most young'uns with this cross.. that parade the streets and wonder shows flaunting ther bullx. as soon as mine is old enough to see some serious graft, that he will. ill tell yous hands down they are'nt my favrite cross lurcher.. but i think he is very relevent for what i want him for. take it easy guys Quote Link to post

W.h I'm from Texas and an avid hog hunter. Traditionally bull dogs (pits, AB's, and Dogo crosses) are used as catch dogs. I recently used some staghounds and love the speed, but would like some extra muscle/bite hence questions about the cross......For a catch dog on tall boars a bulldog with long legs means that the dog can keep all 4 feet planted on the ground when the boar begins to throw his head back....Standard pit bulls become an earring and that is when they get cut. A stag/bull cross yields the taller dog which could mean a safer hunt for the dog. Quote Link to post

Guest richy
why's there so many threads asking for pics of these dogs ? surely everyone knows by now what they look like....there seems to be a "hype" surrounding bull crosses these days where a lot of people seem to think "its a bull cross it will kill foxes etc", in my experience this is not the case, the truth is theres just as much shite about in bull crosses as there would be if you were running whippets on foxes (pre ban)....i've always believed the bull cross to be a one trick pony really, so if they cant do that "trick" then you are left with a ridiculously over sized under paced rabbiting dog.... i keep bull crosses my self, so i'm not putting the breed down, just merely stating a fact that like a lot of purpose bred dogs 90% are crap... its the same with every dog pure breed cross its the luck of the draw but i have seen some good pitbull crosses Quote Link to post
